I was lucky enough to receive some Rodda's scones and clotted cream this week, but as I couldn't wait for a proper afternoon tea I decided to change it to 12:34am tea.
Afternoon tea was started in England by a Duchess in 1840. Back then she would have a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake be brought to her in the late afternoon.
This tea break soon became a fashionable social event and eventually consisted of a selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries, and scones served with clotted cream and jams.
Traditional fine afternoon tea experiences can be found in many of London's finest hotels, and many of the counties in England's west country (Dorset and Cornwall among others) also boast of having the best cream teas.
However nowadays real afternoon tea at home is most likely to be just a biscuit and a mug of tea, so I was happy to be able to eat something a little more special!
After getting everything set up, I moved to my PC and settled in for a few hours of gaming!
Perhaps a new tradition?
