第二列王記17章
34）彼らは今日まで、最初のならわしのとおりに行なっている。彼らは主を恐れているのでもなく、主がその名をイスラエルと名づけたヤコブの子らに命じたおきてや、定めや、律法や、命令のとおりに行っているのでもない。
35）主は、イスラエル人と契約を結び、命じて言われた。「ほかの神々を恐れてはならない。これを拝みこれに仕えてはならない。これにいけにえをささげてはならない。
36）大きな力と、差し伸べた腕とをもって、あなたがたをエジプトから連れ上った主だけを恐れ、主を礼拝し、主にいけにえをささげなければならない。
37）主があなたがたのために書きしるしたおきてと、定めと、律法と、命令をいつも守り行なわなければならない。ほかの神々を恐れてはならない。
38）わたしがあなたがたと結んだ契約を忘れてはならない。ほかの神々を恐れてはならない。
39）あなたがたの神、主だけを恐れなければならない。主はすべての敵の手からあなた方を救い出される。」
40）しかし、彼らは聞かず、先の彼らのならわしのとおりに行なった。
41）このようにして、これらの民は主を恐れ、同時に、彼らの刻んだ像に仕えた。その子たちも、孫たちも、その先祖たちがしたとおりに行なった。今日もそうである。

34)Unto this day they do after the former manners: fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
35)With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them.
36)But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.
37)And the statutes, and ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
38)And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.
39)But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all yor enemies.
40)Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
41)So these nations feared the LORD, and served their gaven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
ゼパニヤ書１章
４）わたしの手を、ユダの上に、エルサレムのすべての住民の上に伸ばす。わたしはこの場所から、バアルの残りの者と、偶像に仕える祭司たちの名とを、その祭司たちとともに断ち滅ぼす。
５）また、屋上で天の万象を拝む者ども、また、主に誓いを立てて礼拝しながら、ミルコムに誓いを立てる者ども、
６）また、主に従うことをやめ、主を尋ね求めず、主を求めない者どもを断ち滅ぼす。
７）神である主の前に鎮まれ。主の日は近い。主が一頭のほふる獣を備え、、主に招かれた者を聖別されたからだ。
８）主が獣をほふる日に、わたしは首長たちや王子たち、外国の服をまとったすべての者を罰する。
９）その日、わたしは、神殿の敷居によじのぼるすべての者、自分の主人の家を暴虐と欺きで満たす者どもを罰する。
Zephaniah 1
4)I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
5)And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
6)And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
7)Hold thy peace at the presence of the LORD GOD; for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
8)And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
9)In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

20)Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
