it's been really chilly these days (it's like finally winter has come), and because of that, i get to drink more and more coffee. however, ever since our coffee maker had broken long time ago, we haven't used coffee maker..... i guess it's about the time to look for the new one. i'm hoping to find a good one!

i haven't eaten ramen noodle for a while..... well, i like ramen noodle but it's not my most favorite food. that said, i used to eat it once in a while. maybe, i should try the ramen shop shown above when i go to ginza.

finally, the time has come; as of january 7, 2008, 95% of taxis running in tokyo has now become non-smoking taxis. well, in particular, i have no objection to that as it seems it's what the public demands. i just wonder how far this non-smoking trend will go.....
とうとう来ましたね。2008年1月7日から都内を走るタクシーの95％が禁煙タクシーになりました。まぁ、これといって異論はありません。世間が要望しているようですし。ただ、この禁煙の流れがどこまで行くのか、気になるところです。

like many others, i'm in a transition moment to usual life from new year bash. however, we still have to send out some belated new year cards to those whom we received the cards but didn't send out. due to the fact that our pc crashed in the past year, and all the address data had terminated, we couldn't send the cards to some people. also, some of new year dishes are still left in the fridge..... so, it may take a little more time to complete the transition. oh, don't get me wrong because i'm just talking about in-the-house-private-life; i had already started usual outside social life.
anyway, i haven't fully recovered from a cold i cought at the end of last year. i'm sick of this persistent cold.
多くの方々同様、正月気分から通常の生活に移行しつつあります。ですが、年賀状を頂きつつも送っていない方々への寒中見舞いを送らなければ。昨年にpcがクラッシュしてしまいまして住所データが消されちゃったんですよね。冷蔵庫の中にはお正月料理も残っていますし・・・。と言うわけで、通常生活への完全移行にはもう少し時間がかかるかな。あ、こんなことを言っていますが家庭内でのことであり、通常の社会生活は既に始まっておりますのでお間違えなく。
それにしても、年末に引いた風邪がまだ完治しません。今回の風邪はしつこいです。

today (i mean yesterday), we visited yokohama to see the couple whom my wife owes them many obligations. we were welcomed by so hyped dogs (jack russels..., so you can imagine). they were just dorable! a lot of gourmet dishes were prepared on the table as well as quite selection of drinks. those who know me know that i'm not that talkative but i could enjoy the party. we ate a lot and with regard to the drinks, i drank a little more than reasonal amount..... oh man, whatever i ate was really delicious and the shochu (distilled spirits) was really good! we finished the food-o-rama with homemade ram raisin ice cream, and it was really one of a kind delicious you'd barely taste; a true ram ice cream!
今日（と言うか昨日）は、うちの奥さんがいつもお世話になっている夫婦のお招きで横浜へ。で、過剰に興奮した犬たち（ジャック・ラッセル・・・、想像がつくと思います）にこれでもか！の歓迎を受ける。むちゃくちゃ可愛い！ テーブルには様々なグルメ料理が並べられ、日本酒、スコッチ、焼酎などかなりのセレクションも。僕のことをご存知の方はお分かりのように、自分はあまりしゃべる方ではないんですが、十分に楽しむことができました。色々なご馳走を沢山食べ、お酒に関してもそれなり以上に飲みました。料理はとても美味しく、紅芋焼酎も美味かった～！ で、締めは自家製のラム・レーズン・アイスクリームだったんですが、これがまた本当の意味でのラム・アイスクリームでなかなか口にすることができないような美味しさでした！
we left there at pretty early time but we were like drunkers on the train..... we're lucky that we did not miss the stop we had to get off at.
かなり早い時間に向こうを出たんですが、電車の中では酔っ払いでした・・・。降りる駅を見逃さなかったのが幸運なくらい。
we got some drinks from them. thank you so much for inviting us. we could spend really a good time there.
最後に日本酒と焼酎もお土産で頂きました。お招きいただき、本当に有難うございました。お陰さまでとても楽しいひと時を過ごすことができました。

we visited to duadalcanal taka and shiho hashimoto's place to celebrate new year. we're welcomed with ozoni (japanese traditional rice-cake soup we eat in new year), various homemade new year dishes and drinks. after spending several hours eating, drinking, talking and playing with dogs, we headed to shabu shabu restaurant where we ate hell of a lot of meat (and dessert, of course). oh, blowfish sashimi and fried blowshish were just delicious!
then we came back to their place. taka-san left home late at night as he had a live broadcasting tv show, and rest of us played around with pc and dogs until really late at night. by the way, floor heating surely made us comfortable! we could really enjoy spending time with them.
taka-san and shiho-san, thank you so much for taking your precious time to invite us and your hospitality! i will try to make the boiled egg dish.
正月のお招きでタカさん、志穂さん宅を訪問。お雑煮を初め、様々な手料理やドリンクのおもてなし。で、数時間ほど料理を食べたり、お酒を飲んだり、お話したり、犬たちと遊んだりした後、しゃぶしゃぶを食べるために外出。もうこれでもかって言うほどのお肉を頂きました（勿論、デザートも）。あ、ふぐ刺し＆ふぐのから揚げも美味でした！
それから戻ってきてタカさんは深夜の生放送があるということでお仕事に。残った人達でpcや犬たちと深夜まで戯れる。それにしても床暖房は心地良し！ とても充実した楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。
タカさん、志穂さん、貴重なお時間を割いてお招き頂き、そして色々とおもてなしして頂き有難うございました！ ゆで卵料理、挑戦してみます。本年も宜しくお願いいたします。

i've been drinking to celebrate new year but this time, instead of using regular sake bottle, we're using this bottle and cups made out of squid. you could even eat the bottle and cups after they suck out enough sake and become soft, which means they then become nibbles and we can drink sake with them!
お正月なんで日本酒を飲んでいますが、今回は普通の徳利の代わりにいか徳利を。お酒を十分に吸い込んで柔らかくなったら、食べることができます。つまりは、これらをおつまみにして更にお酒が飲める、と！
