i went to a studio wher my wife works to do the maintenance for poles we set up. the workout using the poles is called "pilates on the pole," which blends pole dancing and pilates. the black machines shown in the pic are "gts," where you can strengthen your whole body. miles maeda tried out the gts before.

うちの奥さんが働いているスタジオで以前に設置したポールのメンテナンス。ポールを使ったワークアウトは「ピラティス・オン・ザ・ポール」と言いまして、ポール・ダンスとピラティスがブレンドされたものだそうです。写真にある黒いマシンは「gts」というもので、全身を鍛えることができるそうです。以前にマイルスもトライしました。

then we met up with our mutual long time friend in jiyugaoka and had drinks and foods together. there, we ate and drank a lot. since we were so busy talking to each other, i forgot to take pics. the only pic i took was this..... thanks so much for fun time!

two days to go!

last night, i went to nishiazabu to talk about mdj at roots, well, actually i went to nisiazabu during the day, so i made two trips there in one day. takeshi-san, the owner of roots, is very much positively energetic and talk loud with hakatan dialect which gives me really positive energy. i'm wishing a good start.

昨晩はルーツでのmdjの打ち合わせで西麻布まで。実は日中にも西麻布に行っていまして1日で2回も往復することに。ルーツのオーナー、武士さんはかなりポジティブなエネルギーを持った人で博多弁で声も大きく、良いエネルギーを貰っています。兎にも角にも、良いスタートができますように。

dictionary

like many others, i usually use web dictionary when i look up words. it's been like that for many years, which means i seldom use the actual dictionary. also, i type a lot but barely write, which results in forgetting many words. things have changed. well, what i mean to say is that i may have to use the dictionary tomorrow, that's all.

多くの方々同様、単語を調べる時はウェブ辞書を使っています。随分長い間このようにしているんですが、これはつまり、実際の辞書を使うことはほとんどないということになります。また、タイプは沢山するんですが、書くことはほとんどありません。で、多くの単語を忘れてしまう結果に。色々と変わりました。まぁ、何を言いたいのかと言いますと、明日、辞書を使わなければならないかもしれない、と。ただ、それだけです。

she started her career in apparel business and as a model. now, she belongs to armani lounge "prive" as a music selector and adviser. she also involves in composing music for websites and fashion industry which is deeply connected with music as well as fashion brand called "suiren." her dj play style is non-stereotyped genre-free select style with electro being the main part blending rock/popmix, etc. (resident on 4th saturday)

福岡にてアパレル業、同時にモデルとしてスタート。現在ではarmani lounge「prive」の楽曲セレクター＆アドバイザーとして所属。hp楽曲製作や、また音楽と深い繋がりのあるファッション業界にも携わり、ファッションブランド「suiren」にも所属している。djプレイはElectroを中心にrock、popmixなど枠に囚われない自由なselect style。（第4土曜日レギュラー）

he went to the u.s. as a member of "ondekoza" a japanese drum group and started his musical career. later, he was inpired by italo-house and new jack swing, and he learned dj by himself. at predominate "j-men's," he learned the fundamentals of entertainment such as sound systems, lightings and renditions. in 1995, he opened a bar "roots" and "club-oxu." in 2006, he opened "roots-tokyo" in nishiazabu, tokyo. he expanded his activities to the center of japan, and now he goes back and forth tokyo and fukuoka. his dj style is eclectic selection beyond genres and generations, ranging from mellow down tempo to aggressive up-beat. (resident on 1st, 4th and 5th saturdays)

和太鼓集団「鬼太鼓座」のメンバーとして渡米、音楽活動をスタート。その後、1991年よりイタロハウスとニュージャックスイングに刺激を受け独学でdjを学ぶ。一世を風靡した「j-men's」ではdjの基礎であるpaや照明、演出等、エンターテイメントの基礎を学び、95年にbar「roots」と「club-oxu」をopen。2006年には東京・西麻布に「roots-tokyo」をopen。活動の拠点を中央に広げ現在は東京と福岡を往復する日々。メロウなdownテンポなsetからアグレッシブなup-beatまでジャンル、年代を超えた幅広いセレクトが自身のスタイル。（第1、第4、第5土曜日レギュラー）

things get easier!

things get easier and more convenient. it's quite interesting that numark has been taking different approach than others to create new products like idj2. with this turntable called tti, you can directly record your old vinyls to your ipod (and computer) (it has usb audio interface). the included software to record to computer can reduce the noises you particularly hear in old vinyls.

the turntable i want is...., the one with the pitch controller which moves smoothly when you cross the zero percent. yes, i'm using pretty old turntables (i'm using them for about 15 years but they still work just fine!!).

色々と簡単・便利になってきていますね。numarkはidj2など、新製品開発において他社とは違ったアプローチを取っているのはとても興味深いところです。で、このｔｔｉというターンテーブルは古いレコードの音楽を直接ipod（とコンピュータ）に取り込むことができるそうです（usbオーディオ・インターフェース付き）。コンピュータに取り込む際に使用する同梱のソフトウェアでは、古いレコードでありがちなノイズを軽減することもできるそう。

自分が欲しいターンテーブルはと言いますと・・・、それはピッチ・コントローラーがゼロ・パーセントを交差する際にスムーズに動くものです。そうです、随分と古いターンテーブルを使っています（15年ほど使用していますが、未だに健在!!）。

the web based drum machine

this is a web based drum machine. as many of you may notice, this is a simulated version of legendary roland tr-909. it seems that it's pretty much funcitoned. although i have been buying records and occasionally playing them, i barely had chances to play around with such musical instruments (in some ways, it's strange though). so, it'd be a good time to get to know how it works.

こちらはウェブ版のドラム・マシンです。多くの方がお気づきのように、これはあのtr-909をシミュレートしたものだそうです。機能的にも充実しているような感じです。これまでにレコードを買ったり、時にはレコードをプレイしたりしてきたんですが、こういったツールに触れる機会はあまりありませんでした（ある意味、不思議な話ではありますが）。と言うわけで、どのように機能するのかを知る良い機会になりそうです。

and... i did it again....

again, i lit the fiter part..... but this time, there was one thing that i learned from previous experience. that is, yes, to cut out burnt part! the filter part got shortened but still fine. well, not worth posting it.....

またもやフィルターに火を着けちゃいました・・・。ですが今回は、前回の経験から学んだことがあったんですよ。それは、そう、焼けたフィルター部分を切り落とすということ！ まぁ、フィルターは短くなりますが問題ありません。くだらないっすね・・・。

oops, i did it again.....

if you are a smoker, you've probably experienced this: light the filter part. i had barely done this when i smoked previous cigarettes but this is the second time in a little while to do this. i think it's probably because the filter section and cigarette body section are in the same color. well, you may say that there are lines and brand name printed on the filter section but..., somtimes i barely notice them.

喫煙者の方でしたら、多分このような経験をしたことがあるでしょう。それはフィルターに火を着けちゃうことです。前のタバコの時はほとんどやったことないのに、今回は短期間で2回目。多分、フィルターと本体部分が同じ色になっているのが原因か。フィルター部分に線と銘柄名がプリントされているでしょ、とおっしゃる方がいるかもしれませんが、時としてほとんど気付かないんですよね。
