Linden Surfboards was formed in 1967 by Gary Linden.
Gary shaped his first board that year at the dawn of the shortboard revolution! The legend says that Skip ...Frye brought back a McTavish 8'0 V- bottom from Australia and all the windansea crew got to try it ... Gary got some waves ... The V bottom and shortness of the board got him hooked! He striped down his big board, chopped the tail off and shaped his 1st board, sold it bought more blanks... This was the beginning of the Journey... The "Journey" is now the name for Linden Surfboards Stringerless V-bottom model, a replica of Gary's first shape.
The "Journey" has been legendary skater Tony Alva board of choice and is available at Icons of Surf in San Clemente and select Surf Shop across the globe...
Linden surfboards ruled the 80s.
Representing the North County wearing day glow wetsuits and riding handshaped Linden boards were some of the best surfers of this decade; David & Paul Barr, Joey Buran, Brad Gerlach, Todd Holland, Taylor Knox, Mike Lambresi, Chuy Reyna and Colin Smith.
A Story
