MoMA, The Museum of Modern Art

There are many museums in New York. Many Fabulous New Yorker who appeared

in this blog, recommended often museum. The restaurant owner, Vittorio Asaff ,

also loves museum.

“I often visit the Museum of Modern Art with my children. The museum’s

attractiveness is that we can enjoy World Class art with our children.”

Vittorio makes going to MoMA with his children as routine as his going to a health

club every morning. He’s an ideal father, isn’t he?

For other busy New Yorkers, like Vittorio, who cherish time with family, MoMA is a

very important place. The museum has many programs for families and for children.
The good news is that MoMA is free on every Friday from 4:00 p.m. until closing

for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

I love this museum too and visit often, though without children. I’m proud that

Japanese architect, Yoshio Taniguchi , designed the new MoMA in 2004. Now it

is even more modern. I was also happy to see a chair by Tokujin Yoshioka in the

permanent “Architecture and Design” collection.

In my novel, “Find Me”, I set the party scene in The Metropolitan Museum of Art,

however, the sequel, which I’m working on now, starts in MoMA.

In the sequel, Yuko, the heroine of this love story, is looking at the painting,

“Danse” by Matisse.

Yuko starts a conversation with a man who is also gazing at the painting.

They discuss it while looking out at the Sculpture Garden in the center

of the museum.

Other MoMA art works, such as Picasso’s “Girl before a Mirror” and Brancusi’s

sculptures, which I always visit.

In the sequel, expect for art at MoMA to be integrated into the novel.

The MoMA Shop and the MoMA Store across the street are both part of the

fun of visiting the museum.

It is fun just looking at a lot of household goods and gifts with modern design that

we can use everyday. For example, a napkin ($5), inspired by the architect,

Frank Lloyd Wright (who designed the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo), is great to use

daily as a small art object. There is a MUJI store section inside too! Of course,

there are wonderful toys and innovative items for children as well

Museum is full of dreams, talent and stories. On good days and bad, why don’t we

go to the museum with friends, family, lovers and even, alone. On any day, in any

situation, Museum gives us a dream.
