“Yamato” is a great harmony between the mountains and (”yama”and )the sea(“umi“)
山と、海の、おおいなる和、「やまと」

In our country, we use the country name “Nihon” which means the country where the sun rises. This “Yamato” is the name of Japan that was used before the name “Nihon”
わが国では、日本と言う国名を用いる前まで、この「やまと」と言う国名を用いていました。
Water evaporates in the sea, rides on the wind, hits the mountains, and returns to the water as rain.
海から蒸発した水分は、かぜに乗って、山にぶつかり、雨となります。
The water flows from the mountain to the sea through the river and repeats circulation again.
水は、山から川を経て、海へと流れ、再び循環を繰り返します。
We humans are just one of the animals that live in this circulating natural environment.
私たち人間は、この循環する自然環境下で生きる、生物の一種に過ぎません。

古来、山の民と海の民は、共に協調し、この自然環境を守ってきました。

日本のある列島は、その殆どが森林である為、自然が豊かです。

驚くことに、この森林の７０％が、植樹された、人工林なのです。
