日本校ミーティング

お久しぶりです。１月２９日に、日本参加校で活動報告ミーティングがあったため、説明させていただきます。

　会議は基本的に英語で行われ、学校ごとに夏休み後に行った活動を発表するという形式で進行しました。我々は運動促進パンフレットの作成の過程と収穫祭での配布、また志木演説会での発表について説明しました。

　他校もウェブサイトを設立するなど本格的なことに挑戦しており、とても参考になりました。今回の会議をきっかけに、ぜひ交流を深めたいです。

It's been a while since I've been here, but I'd like to talk about the activity report meeting we had on January 29th at the SGLI participating schools in Japan.

　The meeting was basically conducted in English, with each school presenting their activities after the summer vacation. We explained the process of creating a pamphlet to promote physical activities, the distribution of the pamphlet at the harvest festival, and our presentation at the Shiki speech.

　It was very informative to see that other schools have also taken up the challenge of setting up their own websites. I would like to use this conference as an opportunity to deepen our exchange.

SGLIスクールプロジェクト ZOOM会議報告

お久しぶりです、小野有人です。我々は今SGLIのスクールプロジェクトとして健康促進運動を行っており、体育を教えてくださっている樋口先生が講義してくださったので報告します。先生3人と生徒3人が参加し1時間半ZOOMで行いました。

　講義内容は運動することで、寿命や筋肉の大きさにどう影響するか、など非常に興味深く、運動の知識が伸びました。さらに筋トレの種類と鍛える筋肉や、適切な気温、時間帯などを教えてくださり、実践的で高校生に興味がある内容でした。

　この講義をもとにリサーチを進め、運動のマニュアルや健康推進ビデオなの作成に取り組もうと思っています。

　It's been a while, I'm Aruto Ono. We are now preparing to promote health and exercises as a school project of SGLI. This time, Dr. Higuchi, who teaches physical education, gave us a lecture. Three teachers and three students participated, which was done at ZOOM for an hour and a half.

The content of the lecture was very interesting, such as how it affects life expectancy and muscle size by exercising, and my knowledge of exercise has increased. In addition, he taught me effective muscle training and the names of muscles, the appropriate temperature, the time of day, etc., and it was practical for high school students.

Based on this lecture, I would like to conduct research and work on the creation of exercise manuals and health promotion videos.

第6回ミーティング

I report the conference on July 20^th. In this meeting, Paula Arias; Director Strategic Programs prepared several questions for our discussion. Every question, we were randomly separated into different groups, which was so fun. Our discussion are often conflicted in two sides; men and women. Finally, women side won with thier clear and persuasive reasons. Men side including myself can`t help that. Therefore, all representative speakers who talk in main session room were took on by women. Even though I was totally admired with woman`s power, I could enjoy the discussion from bottom of my heart. The process of polishing a good answer by fighting each opinion was obviously unforttable experience. Each student has totally diferent culture, ethnicity and lives in far away, but our minds was vividly interacting so well. I can`t wait next discussion.

7月20日に行われた会議を報告します。この会議ではSGLIを主催するパウラ・アリアスさんが私たちの議論のためにいくつかの質問を準備してくださいました。各質問毎に私たちはランダムで異なるグループに分けられました。議論は必ず、男性と女性で意見が割れました。そして最後は決まって女性チームの明確かつ説得力のある意見がチーム全体の意見として採用されました。当然、メインセッションルームにおいて皆の前で発言するチーム代表は女性チームから選抜されました。男子を圧倒する女性のロジカルな思考に終始、圧倒された私ですが、議論自体はとても有意義なものでした。互いの意見を激しくぶつけ合いながら、一つの意見を創り上げる過程はとても面白かったです。チーム内では、誰ひとりとして共通の文化・民族性を持っている人はいません。居住地も海を隔てるほどに遠く離れています。ですが僕たちはとても高いレベルで心を通わせることができたような気がします。次の会議が楽しみで仕方がないです。

第8回ミーティング

こんにちわ。吉澤佳祐です。7月22日最終会議に出席したので報告します。前半では、プナホウスクールの校長先生　ラザムさんとカウラナさんがハワイの伝統についての講義を聞き、後半ではタレントショーや各々が学校紹介を行い楽しく過ごしました。

前半のラザムさんの講義では、地球温暖化などのパブリックヘルスの解決方法について話していました。地球全体で協力し、価値観の共有などをする必要があるそうです。カウラナさんはハワイの現地の言葉や楽器を紹介してくれ、とても興味深かったです。“アロハ”という単語の意味は“おはよう”や“こんにちわ”だけでなく“愛”など多くの意味があるそうです。

後半では、昨日見きれなかったタレントショーを見ました。それぞれが素晴らしい才能を持っており、とても感動しました。

今日が最後の会議でした。素晴らしい経験ができ、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

Hello. My name is Keisuke Yoshizawa. I would like to report the last meeting on July 22th. In the first half, the president of Punahou school Dr. Latham talked about public health and Mr. Keaulana talked traditional Hawaii’s culture. In the second half, I spend a good time to see talent show video and to listen the features of own school.

In the First half, Dr. Latham talked about how to solve problems of public health such as global warming, the pandemic of some infections and so on. He said that we have to corporate and share our values. Moreover, Mr. Keaulana introduced us about tradition of Hawaii. For example, “Aloha” means that not only Hello, Good bye but also love.

In the second half, I saw a talent show which I could not see yesterday. All participants have great talent and I was happy to see it.

Today is last meeting for SGLI. I could spend a good time to experience the valuable time.

第７回SGLIミーディング活動報告

第７回ミーティング　活動報告

こんにちは、小野有人です。7月21日のミーティングを報告します。今回はSGLI参加者が学校ごとに作った健康推進ビデオと、タレントショービデオを全員で鑑賞しました。その後、約6人のグループに分かれ4つのトピックについてディスカッションをしました。

外国校が作成した健康推進ビデオは非日常的で、ポップ音楽が多く活用されていたことが印象に残りました。タレントショーでは全ビデオの半分を閲覧し、ジャグリング、車のスケッチ、手品など私生活の一面を知るきっかけとなり、とても楽しめました。

最後に行ったディスカッションは、ワクチンを無駄にしてしまった医師の解雇など、実際にあった出来事について意見を出し合いました。その後グループの意見を代表が述べました。

次で最後だということもあり、カジュアルな雰囲気で会議ができ、私自身も楽しく参加できたと思います。

Hello, this is Aruto Ono. I would like to report on Meeting on July 21st. This time, we all watched the health promotion videos, and the talent show videos made by SGLI participants from each school. After that, we were divided into groups of about 6 people and discussed 4 topics.

The health promotion videos created by foreign schools were extraordinary, and the use of pop music was unique. At the talent show, we watched half of all the videos, and it was a great opportunity to learn about the aspects of their personal life such as juggling, car sketches, and magic tricks.

Finally, we discussed 4 incidents, such as the dismissal of a doctor who wasted the vaccine. After that, the representative expressed the opinion of the group.

Since it was the next and last time, we were able to have a meeting in a casual atmosphere. I myself enjoyed participating a lot!

第五回ミーティング 報告

こんにちわ。吉澤佳祐です。7月17日のミーティングに参加したので報告します。前半では、アランムラバヤシさんがプロジェクトを成功するためのコツについてのプレゼンを聞きました。後半は何回もディスカッションを行い、それぞれの意見を交換しました。

ムラバヤシさんは、プレゼンの際に用いるパワーポイントの枚数などプレゼンに必要な事の全てを教えてくれました。今までのミーティングで聞いた博士たちの素晴らしいプレゼンを基に、僕たちも準備しようと思います。

後半のディスカッションでは、今の時世に合わせた質問(議員の汚職問題やコロナ禍での飲食店経営など)で答えるのが少し難しかったです。

来週のミーティングでプレゼンの発表会をするそうです。三人でしっかり準備し、素晴らしいものにできるように頑張りたいと思いました。

Hello. My name is Keisuke Yoshizawa. I report the conference on July 17th. In the first half, I　listened the Mr. Murabayashi presentation about how to success the project. In the second half, I discussed many times and I exchanged opinions with participants.

Mr. Murabayashi lectured that all of necessary things for the presentation. Based on wonderful presentation which I listened previous meeting, we will make a great presentation.

In the discussion, it was very difficult for me to answer the question because these were based on the resent problems such as corruption for Congressman and running restaurant under the COVID crisis.

Next week meeting, we will present our project guideline. I thought that I have to corporate with Aruto and Rio to prepare it for enough.

第４回SGLI会議 報告

I report the conference on July 10^th. We heard from Dr, William Haning who is a pundit about drug addiction and mental health. He talked about how drug addiction affects mental health. Actually, the content of his presentation was not so surprising to me. There are maybe two reasons. One is because Dr, Willian Haning amalgamated his lecture with students` level. The second is the health education in Japan is so great that I have already known the knowledge. Anyway, it is the first time for me to hear from an American doctor. Naturally, it was exciting to me. He always used concreate examples in his life to explain his research and idea. I couldn`t help myself being admired with his abundant experience and conversation skill. Additionally, he also referred to the relation between alcohol industry and economy, which leads the question why alcohol conglomerate have so big authority into national government. He not only focuses on the addicted patient but also studies the social curse which produce addiction. Someday, I want to go to foreign countries and explore diverse cultures and interesting ethnicity like him.

私は7月１０日の会議を報告します。薬物中毒とメンタルヘルスに関する専門家であるウィリアム・ハニング医師から話を聞きました。彼は薬物中毒が精神的健康に与える影響について説明しました。実のところ、彼の講演内容は私が既に知っている知識も多く含んでいました。考えられる理由は2つ挙げられます。一つはウィリアン・ハニング博士が高校生にもわかるような講演内容にした。2つ目は日本の健康教育の水準が高く、私がその恩恵を受けていた。また、アメリカの医師から直接、健康に関するお話を聞くのは初めての経験だったので、とても楽しかったです。ハニング医師は彼の具体的な経験を例にあげてわかりやすく彼の考えや研究内容を説明してくれました。彼の豊富な経験と卓越した会話能力には関心するばかりでした。さらにハニングア医師はアルコール産業と経済の関係についても言及しました。それは、なぜアルコール企業が国家政府に大きな権力を持つことができるのかという問いの答えを示唆するものでした。つまり彼は病院にいる中毒患者だけでなく、そのような人々を生み出し続ける社会的構造も深い洞察を持っていたんです。僕もいつか外国に行って、彼のように多様な文化や未開の民族性に触れてみたです。

第三回SGLI会議 報告

こんにちは、小野有人です。7月3日に3回目のZOOMミーディングが行われたため、報告させていただきます。今回はアラン＝ムラバヤシさんに、SGLIプロジェクトの概要とご自身の体験談について話していただきました。後半の少人数会議は、学校の授業に参加したため同席できませんでした。   

プナホ高校で数々の研究プロジェクトを行いイェール大学で音楽の博士号を獲得したアランさんは、学校プロジェクトが半分失敗するほど難しいこと、成功させるための注意点について語ってくれました。まずプロジェクトは教育、行動の変化、物理的なオブジェクトに三分されます。そして成功を促すために書かれた目標、マイルストーン、時間配分の計画、そして成功基準が必須だと教えてくださいました。しかし資金と時間が限られており、人々の思考を変化させることの難しさから、良いアイディアも成功するとは限らないと学びました。  

 アランさんはポジティブで明るい方ですが、多くの失敗を乗り越えてきた思慮深い方でもあります。彼のアドバイスに従い、3人でプロジェクトに取り組もうと思いました。

 Hello, this is Aruto Ono. We would like to inform you that the third ZOOM meeting was held on July 3rd. This time, Mr. Murabayashi talked about the outline of the SGLI project and his own experiences. We couldn't attend the small group meeting in the second half because school was starting.   

Mr. Murabayashi, who has done a number of research projects at Punahou High School and earned a PhD in music from Yale University, talked about how difficult a school project is, and half of them fail. He also gave us a lot of advice. First, the project is divided into education, behavioral changes, and physical objects. He told us that written goals, milestones, time allocation plans, and success criteria are essential to drive success. However, I learned that good ideas are not always successful due to limited funding and time, and the difficulty of changing people's thinking.   

Mr. Murabayashi is a positive and cheerful person, but he is also a thoughtful person who has overcome many mistakes. Following his advice, we hope to succeed in our projects.

第二回ミーティング 報告

こんにちは。吉澤佳祐です。二回目のSGLI会議に参加したので報告します。今回も70名を超える生徒が参加し、今回はゲストのケンブル博士が自身のアフリカでの医療経験を、ルー博士がワクチンについてお話してくださいました。

ケンブル博士は写真と共にお話してくれました。地球温暖化によって広がっていく砂漠や伝染病の脅威にさらされている貧乏な子供たちの支援を行うのが先生の仕事だったそうです。アフリカにおける子供の成長率のグラフなどを見ると、先進国との医療格差比べて著しく、この環境の改善が必要だと感じました。
ルー博士は、コロナワクチンが全世界にいきわたらない理由や、副作用について話していました。東京オリンピックの前に日本人のワクチン接種がこれまで以上に進むと良いなと思いました。

最後にオハナグループに分かれて行った会議では、自分の名前の由来を言い、仲間と親睦を深めました。例えば、僕のオハナグループの先生Wendy Kamiya先生の場合、生まれた日が、WednesdayでWet だったのでWendyという名前が付いたそうです。色々な特徴があり聞いていてとても面白かったです。

Hello. My name is Keisuke Yoshizawa. I report that I attended the second SGLI meeting. About 70 students joined and Dr. Sarah Kemble talked about own medical experiment in Africa and Dr. Ginia Loo talked about the vaccine.

Dr. Kemble spoked with showing us a lot of pictures. Her job was to support poor children who threated by growing desert and infection because of global warming. I saw the graph of child growth rate and I thought that we have to change the bad environment as soon as possible.
Dr. Loo talked the reason why few people got vaccine and side effect of vaccine. I supposed that before the Tokyo Olympic games, most of Japanese people should get vaccine to success the games.

Discussion in Ohana group, to make friends in the group, we presented the origin of our name. For example, our Ohana group teacher, Ms. Wendy Kamiya said, her name “Wendy” named after Wednesday and wet. These were a lot of features and I was very glad to hear that.

2021年度第1回SGLI会議 活動報告

Hello, this is Rio Hanashima. I report the first conference of SGLI 2021. There were nearly 70 students who engaged in the first congress. It consisted of two parts. Firstly, we listened to a doctor`s lecture about corona virus. After that, we were divided into five groups and shared personal information.

The speaker of the lecture was an American doctor. He explained the process of infection with lots of pictures and graphs. I was admired with his abundant experience. His oration manifestly proved that he was deeply versed in medical situations of the world countries. However, I am not used to such a genuine discourse in English. So I couldn`t completely catch the gist of his presentation. I have to fortify my listing ability.

In the discussion of a small group, each student answered the teacher`s question in turn. For example, What is three words that describe you? Who affected your life greatly? It was interesting for me to find out each student`s answer resembled. I mean the discrepancy of nation, language and human race doesn`t matter so much as I thought. Every person likes the word “passionate” and “sleep”. Every person regards parents as indispensable.

こんにちわ。花島利旺です。2021年度SGLIの第一回会議の報告をします。会議に参加した生徒は約70人でした。会議はZOMMで行われ、2部構成でした。最初に医師によるコロナウイルスに関する講義を聞きました。その後、生徒は5グループに分かれて、互いの情報交換をしました。

講義の話者はアメリカの医師でした。彼は写真やグラフを用いて、人がコロナウイルスに感染する過程を説明しました。僕は彼の経験の豊富さに驚きました。彼の講義内容は彼が世界各国の医療事情に精通していることを示していました。しかし、僕はこのような本格的な英語の講演に慣れていないので完璧に彼の理論を理解することはできませんでした。英語を聞き取る力を伸ばさなければいけません。

小グループに分かれた会議では各生徒が順番に先生の質問に答えました。例えば「あなたを3つの言葉で表すとしたら何ですか」・「あなたの人生に大きな影響を与えた人は誰ですか」等です。各生徒の意見が似通っていることを発見したのは僕にとって面白い経験でした。みんな「情熱」や「寝る」という言葉が好きで、みんなが両親を大切に想っていました。つまり他国の生徒の話を聞いて「国、言語そして人種の違いは僕が思っていたよりも大した違いではないんだ」とわかったんです。
