基本的で簡単な文が、繰り返し出て染み入る感じです。
on / off / in の感覚が少し分かった気がします。

机の上に置く。

器に注ぐ。
She is taking a knife and fork off the tray.
She is taking them out of the pot.
This water is boiling. It is giving off steam.
湯気が出ている。 湯気が空気中に無くなって行く感じですね。
We take in air through our mouths and through our noses.
息を吸い込むからtake in
She went out of the room.
部屋から出て行った。 from the room. というよりも、
部屋の外へ行く という感じ。だから out of the room.
ちなみに 'from the room' で検索すると 'escape from the room' が沢山ヒットします。
