Cops: Marina Woman Locked Mother-In-Law In Chicken Coop

MARINA, Calif. -- A 92-year-old Marina woman was battered and locked in a chicken coop by her daughter-in-law on Wednesday night, police said.
Myuong Sakasegawa, 64, of Marina, attacked her mother-in-law, stole the elderly woman's purse and locked her inside a chicken coop, Marina police said.

Sakasegawa left and the mother-in-law was trapped in the locked chicken coop for more than an hour. Finally, her son returned home on the 3000 block of Del Monte Boulevard and she called out to him.

Sakasegawa's husband freed his mother from the coop.
Sakasegawa was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of battery, false imprisonment and elder abuse.

Sakasegawa's house has high walls surrounding the property. Their only neighbor is the Marina Police Department, which is on the other side of the home's fence.

Long-time members of the tight-knit Korean community in Marina contacted by The Marmot’s Hole on Thursday said she was unknown to them, but a police report confirmed that she identified herself as Korean at the time of her arrest.
