記者： あれだけご活躍されていた芸能界なのに。なぜ、興味がなくなった？
You have been so active in the entertainment world. What made you lose all the interest？
みの： 今の芸能界は誰が芸能人で、誰が素人なのか。まったく判らないでしょ。ボクらの時代はね。ひとりひとりの芸能人がそれぞれ「看板」を背負うプロだった。お酒を飲みに行くのは、そういうプロたちと飲む「秘め事」だったんです。松本君は、疑惑が生じるような世界に突っ込んだ。それが間違いだと思う。
The entertainment world has changed. Who in there are show people and who are not, I can’t tell.
In my days, every one of us was a professional owing a lot. We would have a drink together quietly on the sly. To be honest, Matsumoto’s mistake is getting the wrong women in the circle.
記者： 昔の芸能界はプロだけで遊ぶ。それが当たり前だった？
In those days, people in show world had drinking parties only among themselves, right?
みの： そうだよ。芸能人はカッコいいという憧れがあった。芸能界と水商売の間にきちんとしたラインがあって。今は無い。相手がプロかどうか判らないし、遊び方を知らない。そういう意味で松本君は可哀そう。
That's right. People out there adored TV celebrities. There was a clear line between the show world and night businesses. Now, it’s quite obscure. You never know if your drinking buddy is a pro or not. Rules are forgotten about how to have a good time over drinks. In my eyes, Matsumoto fell victim to a poor setting.
「可哀そう」を最初、私は a poor guy としました。それではシンプルすぎて状況が埋もれてしまう。そこで、ヘタな段取りのせいでというニュアンスを採用することに...。
