平戸海 (ひらどうみ) 関 (境川 [さかいがわ] 部屋) が、明日 (令和4年 [2022年] 9月11日) 始まる大相撲九月場所で新たに幕内力士として出場します。平戸海関の新番付は西前頭16枚目です。
In the Ozumo September basho (大相撲九月場所) that will begin tomorrow (September 11, Reiwa 4 [2022]), Hiradoumi (平戸海関; Sakaigawa Stable [境川部屋]) will take part as a new makunouchi rikishi (新入幕). Hiradoumi's new rank is west maegashira 16 (西前頭16枚目; the lowest rank in the makunoichi division).
私は平戸海関を応援しているので、新入幕は嬉しいです。まずは勝ち越しを目指して頑張ってほしいです。
I root for Hiradoumi and am very happy for him for being promoted to the makumouchi division. I hope he will try hard so that he will win kachikoshi (勝ち越し: more wins than losses in a basho, which means at least 8 wins for a rikishi in the makunouchi division).
先日の短いインタビューで、平戸海関は、九月場所では「二桁勝利を目指す」と語っていました。その心意気は素晴らしいです。
In a short interview the other day, Hiradoumi said that he would aim for at least 10 wins in the September basho. That is the kind of fighting spirit that I evaluate highly.

Moreover, I like Sakaigawa Stable, the stable that Hiradoumi belongs to. I give the stable high marks as one that "makes real men" through rigorous training and practice. I referred to the stable in the following two articles.

更に、我が家では今、平戸海関とその師匠の境川親方の出身地である長崎県の評価が高くなっています。数日前に、長崎県東彼杵郡 (ひがしそのぎぐん) 波佐見町 (はさみちょう) で作られた「波佐見焼」の素敵なお皿を買って、これがとても気に入ったからです。この「波佐見焼」のお皿で食事をすると美味しく感じます。(私は長崎県に行ったことはありません。いつか行ってみたいと家族と話しています。)
In addition, my family and I now have a very high opinion of Nagasaki Prefecture, the home prefecture of both Hiradoumi and Sakaigawa Oyakata (境川親方), his stable master. A few days ago, we bought a beautiful porcelain plate known as "hasami-yaki" (波佐見焼), which was made in the town of Hasami in Higashi-Sonogi County (東彼杵郡) of Nagasaki Prefecture (長崎県). We love the plate. Food seems to taste better when one eats it from this hasami-yaki plate. (I have never been to Nagasaki Prefecture. My family and I would like to visit the prefecture someday if circumstances permit.)
平戸海関の話からはいささか脱線しました。平戸海関は新入幕で勝ち越せれば大したものなので、まずはそれを目指してほしいです。
I digressed from Hiradoumi, the main topic of this article. I want Hiradoumi to aim for kachikoshi in his first basho as a makunoichi rikishi because it will be a major accomplishment.
