以前も一回取り上げたflirt with。以前の例では、flirted with the idea of の形で「～と考えてみたりする」くらいの意味で使われていた。
flirt withをWeblioの辞書で見てみると…「恋をもてあそぶ、ふざける、いちゃつく、もてあそぶ、(…に)おもしろ半分に手を出す、(…を)(危険覚悟で)気軽にやってみる、ぴくぴく動く、ひらひら飛ぶ」などがのっているが、ここでの意味にはどれも当てはまらない。
こちらの辞書では3番めの意味として以下の定義が載っている。
3. To come very close to some outcome or result, often (though not always) a very bad one.
The CEO has been flirting with disaster with her off-the-cuff comments to the press lately.
The up-and-coming golf pro has flirted with success over the past few years, but he's yet to manage a major tour victory.
「何かの結果に非常に近づくことを表す。その結果は（必ずではないが）たいへん悪い結果であることが多い。」という定義。
ここのツイートでは、最高値を伺おうとしている、最高値が視野に入ったくらいの感じでしょうか。
