205日目、ケーススタディ
オランダからの学生さんがケーススタディを計画してくれました。先天性内反足について。1人のケースのこれまでの経過と治療技術をシェアし合いました。意見交換もポスター作製の協力依頼もできて実り多い1日になりました。
Jan 23rd (205 days) case study
Students from Holland planned a case study. Topic is Clubfoot.We were able to share one of patient’s history and technique of treatment. It was a good day, because I could propose them to ask to help making a poster.
206日目、アライメント調整
義足の各パーツの適切な位置、角度、長さなどによって歩きが変わります。今回は自分で調節にチャレンジ。患者さんにも歩きやすくなったと言ってもらえました。日本でお世話になった義肢装具士さんにいただいた六角レンチが大活躍。ありがとうございました！
Jan 24th (206 days) adjustment of alignment
Adequate adjustment of an artificial leg, for example location, angle and length of each part make walking better. I tried adjustment myself. A patient said that he can walk easily. A hexagonal wrench which I was given by prosthesist and orthosist who took care of me in Japan was enormously helpful. Thank you so much!
207日目、再び
障害当事者のミーティングの見学が実現しました。先週は誰もいなかった会場に今日は人がたくさん。前方の机に議長と書記の人がいて、横には手話通訳者が立ち発言者の通訳をしていました。盲者が4人、聾唖者が7-8人、身体障害が7-8人といった割合のようでした。政府からもらえる助成金についての話し合いをしていたそうですが、現地語なので内容はわかりません。最後にメンバーに自分を紹介してもらいました。温かく迎えてもらってひと安心。また次回よろしくお願いします。
Jan 25th (207 days) again
Observation of meeting by people with disabilities has realized. There are many people in a place where last week no one came. Chairman and secretary at the front table, interpreter of sign language stood beside of them and what speaker said. The number is 4 blinds, 7 or 8 deaf-mute, 7 or 8 people with physical disabilities. They discussed about common fund from government. They talked in local language, so I didn’t understand details. Finally, I was introduced to members. I was relieved because they welcomed me warmly. I look forward to their continued acquaintance.
208日目、プリントアウトにかかる時間
USBメモリに入った写真をお店でプリントアウトするのに何分かかるでしょうか？答えは1時間10分。「まっすぐ歩いて誰かに聞いてみて」「その角を右に曲がればいい」「この道を下ったらあるよ」「モスクの近くにあるよ」。結局見つからないまま歩くこと40分、自力で写真屋さんらしい看板を発見しました。プリンタをインストールしなおし印刷に30分。何はともあれ印刷完了。
Jan 26th (208 days) Time for print out
How many minutes does it take to print out of photo in a USB memory. Answer is 1 hour and 10 minutes. “Go straight and ask” ”Turn right at the corner” ”Go down this way” ”It is around a mosque”. I couldn’t look out a shop and walked 40 minutes, I found out a signboard looks like a photo chop by myself. It took 30 minutes to reinstall a software of a printer. Printing out was finished.

脳性まひの男の子とお母さんが診察にやって来ました。日本の子どもでもそうですが、何かされるのが嫌でずっと泣きっぱなし。ボールで遊びながらであれば動いてくれました。それでも立つのは嫌いなので、また泣き出します。おかあさんは「ムチはないの？」と言います。ガーナでは先生によってはまだ学校でムチを使います。お母さんのイライラを減らしてあげるためにも立つ練習がしやすいようにしてあげなくては。
Jan 27th (209 days) the discipline of children
A cerebral palsy boy and his mother come for consultation. He cried during consultation because he disliked that someone touched him as the same as Japanese children. He moved with playing a ball. But he disliked standing and cried again. His mother said “Do you have a cane?” In Ghana, some teachers still use a cane in a class room. I have to support his training of standing to reduce his mothers’ irritation.

入所者リスト、プール練習対象者リスト、関節角度計測表を同僚とオランダからの学生に託してきました。活用してくれますように。
Jan 28th (210 days) preparation for vacation
I gave list of inpatients, a person who can join swimming exercise and a table of range of motion to colleague and students from Holland. I wish they will put to practical use.
211日目、ビザ申請
ブルキナファソ渡航に向けてビザを申請するため大使館へ。約7300円かかります。役人の懐に消えないで市民のために使われるといいのですが。
Jan 29th (211 days) application of visa
I went to Burkina Faso embassy to apply visa. It cost about 7300 Yen. I hope it will be used for citizens not to put into a government official’s pocket.
212日目、ボランティア総会
半年に1回、全ボランティアが一同集まり講義を受けたり活動報告をしたりします。真面目に報告する人、日記を読む人、野望を語る人、何故か今までの日本でのエピソードを話す人。何はともあれ、いろんな人の人となりを知るのは楽しいですね。
Jan 30th (212 days) a general assembly of volunteers
We have a general assembly that all the volunteers are given some lectures and report our activities twice a year. Someone report seriously, someone read own diary, another one talk his dream and an episode in japan. Any way, It is interesting to know everyone's personalities.
213日目、お別れ
昨日はダイレクターの葬儀のため、総会後任地に戻り夜11時まで参列。翌日は教会にてメインの葬儀。日本でいうところの、お通夜とお葬式です。地域のチーフを含め500～600人は来ていたでしょうか。オランダ人のダイレクターはブラザーと呼ばれています。彼がガーナに来て1年目の写真が展示されていました。セピア色の写真に映る子どもを抱く若き日のブラザー。ガーナへの大きな貢献は未来につながることでしょう。
Jan 31st (213 days) farewell
Yesterday, I went back to my workplace and attended a funeral of director till at 11 p.m. Next day, We have a main funeral. It is like a wake and a farewell ceremony in Japan. Attendants are from 500 to 600 include a chief of community. Director from Holland was called “Brother”. Some pictures that were taken when he came to Ghana at first year were displayed. It was young Brother who held a child in a picture colored sepia. Great contribution to Ghana will lead to the future.

協力隊市場調査団の最終報告会がありました。調査背景や現状の問題点の整理がメインですが、興味深い発表でした。次回は自分も調査を始めたいと思います。

We hold a final briefing session of marketing survey by volunteers. Main report is putting in order background and issues. I was interested in their presentation. I want start to survey next time.

金曜日に受けられなかった予防接種を受けるため首都に足止め。みんなはそれぞれの任地に帰っていき、人がいないドミトリーは静まりかえっています。
Feb 2nd (215 days) after typhoon
I stopped over in capital to have a vaccination that I wasn’t given on Friday. Everyone has gone to their workplace, our dormitory where no one stay is quiet.
216日目、6種類の注射
ガーナのクリニックにて、A型肝炎の予防接種。これで全て終了。A型肝炎、狂犬病、破傷風、ポリオ、髄膜炎、腸チフス、ずいぶんたくさん打ったもんだ。
Feb 3rd (216 days) 6 varieties injection
I got a vaccination of Hepatitis-A in a clinic in Ghana. All vaccination finished. Hepatitis-A, Rabies, Tetanus Toxoid, Poliomyelitis, Meningitis and Typhoid fever, I had given a lot of injection.

自宅玄関ドアの鉄格子設置が長い間保留になっていましたが、今日取り付けられました。ここは安全だと、みんなは言うけれど、備えあれば憂いなしってことで。

Setting up of an iron-barred door was leaved long time, it was set up today. Everyone said that this place is safe, Providing is preventing.
