As a child...
I grew up in a home where my parents took me to church regularly. I heard this story year after year, MANY times...(more than I could ever count!) and always loved it. But after I got older and began to understand it's significance, it became even more special to me.
ザットリンダは子供の頃からママとパパと、ほとんど毎週教会に通っていました。「不思議な誕生」という話は毎年続けて何回か聞いていました。一番好きなストーリーでしたが、大人になってからこの話の深い意味と。。。自分にどういう関係があるのか
少しずつ理解できるようになりました。すると、ますますそのストーリーが好きになりました。
Living in Japan, however, I have met many people who have never even once heard this story I treasure from start to finish.

Even though the Christmas holiday is soon over for this year, the story is good news all year round.
日本に長く住んでるので、いろんな人に出会いましたが。。。
私が小さい時から大切にしてきたストーリーを最初から最後まで一度も聞いた事がない人にも沢山会いました。
『最初のクリスマス』という今のシリーズは。。。そういう皆さんの為にブログに載せました。（見逃した人は是非１２月の記事を全部見てみてください。）
クリスマスの季節がもう少しで終わってしまいますが、クリスマス・ストーリーは年中、季節に関係なく、大切なグッドニュースです。

では、話を続けたいと思います。
THE FIRST CHRISTMAS continued...
... in the Gospel of LUKE 
About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the (Roman) Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, King David's town, for the the census. As a descendant of David,he had to go there. 
He went with Mary, his fiancee, who was pregnant.
新約聖書のルカ書に書いている話ですが、そのころ、皇帝アウグストが全ローマ帝国の住民登録をせよと命じました。これは、クレニオがシリヤの総督だった時に行なわれた、最初の住民登録でした。
登録のため、国中の人がそれぞれ先祖の故郷に帰りました。ヨセフは王家の血筋だったので、ガリラヤ地方のナザレから、ダビデ王の出身地ユダヤのベツレヘムまで行かなければなりません。婚約者のマリヤも連れて行きましたが、この時にはもう、マリヤのお腹は目立つほどになっていました。
While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel. 
ベツレヘムにいる時に、マリヤは初めての子を生みました。男の子でした。
彼女はその子を布でくるみ、飼葉おけに寝かせました。宿屋が満員で、泊めてもらえなかったからです。
There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified.
その夜、町はずれの野原では、羊飼いが数人、羊の番をしていました。そこへ突然、御使いが現れ、主の栄光がさっとあたり一面を照らしたのです。これを見た羊飼いたちは恐ろしさのあまり震え上がりました。
The angel said,
Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide!
A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master.
This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.
御使いが言いました。
こわがることはありません。これまで聞いたこともない、すばらしい出来事を知らせてあげましょう。
すべての人への、うれしい知らせです。
今夜ダビデの町（ベツレヘム）で救い主がお生まれになりました。この方こそ主キリストです。布にくるまれ、飼葉おけに寝かされている赤ん坊、それが、目じるしです。

At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises:
Glory to God in the heavenly heights.
Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.
するとたちまち、天の軍勢が現れ、御使いと一緒に神をほめたてました。
天では、神様に栄光があるように。
地上では、平和が、神様に喜ばれる人々にあるように。
As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over.
"Let's get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us."
御使いの大軍が天に帰ると、羊飼いたちは、
「さあ、ベツレヘムへ行こうぜ。主が知らせてくださった、素晴らしい出来事を見てこようじゃないか！」と言い合いました。
They left, running...
They left, running...They ALL left, running...
and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. 
Seeing was believing.

羊飼いたちは息せき切って町まで駆けて行き、ようやくヨセフとマリヤと捜しあてました。飼葉おけには、赤ん坊が寝ています。何もかも御使いの言ったとおりです。
They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.
Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within her heart. 
羊飼いたちはこのことを大勢の人に話して聞かせました。それを聞いた人々はみな、ひどく驚きましたが、マリヤはこれらのことを納め、時々、思い返していました。
The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told!
羊飼いたちは、お告げどおり赤ん坊にお会い出来たので、神を賛美しながら、帰って行きました。
