オバマ大統領の正式な誕生の日。
今日から、何が変わるのか?
今、ベストセラーになっているオバマ演説集（朝日出版社 2008年11月刊）についてる「生声」を聞いている。（写真）私が好きなフレーズは、こんな一節だ。
America, we have come so far. We have seen so much.
But there's so much more to do.
So tonight, Let us ask ourselves:
If our children should live to see the next century,
if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper,
what change will they see ?
What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call.‥‥
今こそ、その問いかけに答えるチャンスです。
問いかけ‥。
詩情豊かな表現力。
そして、困難な状況に対する変化への挑戦の意欲。
アメリカの人々は自らの手で新しい指導者を選んだ。
だから選んだ側にも、責任があると自覚する。
日本人は自らの国の指導者を、
果たして自分達の手で選んでいるという意識があるのだろうか?
