Rehearsal in Nagoya has been going well.

Let me tell you about an episode in Honolulu about ten days ago.

As my wife and I were preparing to go to Jyakuan, Urasenke tea room in the University of Hawaii, an alarm beeped in the condominium, followed by PA.

By now, some of you may be thinking this was an incident happened last November, while my wife was preparing dinner alone in the room.

No.

We had another one.

For those of you who hadn’t read the story of my wife’s evacuation last year, please read the above article.

Okay, let’s go back to the story about ten days ago.

My wife who had experienced an evacuation last year, padded my shoulder and quietly said  “There’s a fire again. We’re going to evacuate now!”

When we opened the fire exit, there were several groups already going downstairs and right in front of us was a family and their doggie we were friends with.

The doggie noticed us and went down the stairs, looking back at us frequently to check if we were following.

Luckily, our room was in the sixth floor, we could arrived at the entrance pretty soon.

By the time we got there, most of the residents were already there with their dogs.

Surprisingly, all of them looked quite relaxed, chatting with each other.

Hmmm, they (including my wife) look quite accustomed to the emergency situation.

I wonder if there are so many fires in Honolulu…

Or… we are just unlucky.

Different from the fire last year, this time was really nothing serious and after a firefighter checked the room? we could go back to our rooms about 25 minutes later.

Most of the evacuees returned to their rooms but some of them went for a walk with doggies as if nothing had happened.

Oh, I have to tell you a significant point.

We stayed in the different condo from the one we had stayed last November.
