Previously, I wrote about that we became unable to see Persian leopards and Jaguars in “Higashiyama zoo”, because they lost their exhibit areas for the redevelopment construction.
以前、「東山動植物園」の再生工事の為に、ペルシャヒョウとジャガーが彼らの放飼場を失ったために、会えなくなった事について書いたです。

Today I’d like to talk to you about that continuation.
今日は、続きのお話をするです。



I asked Mr. Ａ “So, what is the reason why you don't exhibit them?”
「彼らを展示しない理由は何ですか?」って、Ａ氏に聞いたです。

Then this time, he said “The reason why we can’t exhibit Persian leopards and Jaguars is we have no space”.
そしたら、今度は、彼は「我々が、ペルシャヒョウとジャガーを展示できない理由は、場所がないからです。」って言ったです。

I couldn't believe what he said.
あたしは、彼の言葉が信じらんなかったです。

That’s because, "Higashiyama zoo" has 60 hectares of land, but he said "we have no space".
「東山動植物園」は60ヘクタールの土地があるのに、彼は「我々は場所がない」って言ったからです。



He described the following.
彼は、以下の説明をしたです。

One of the political promises of current Nagoya mayor is "To protect the environment ".
現在の名古屋市長の公約は、「環境保護」です。

If he permits the trees to be cut down in Higashiyama zoo to build new exhibit areas, then it is a breach of the political promise which is “To protect the environment”.
もし、市長が、新しい放飼場を造るために、東山動植物園内の木々を伐採したら、「環境保護」という公約に違反することになる。

Because of that, unless if mayor reverses political promises or he falls from the position of mayor, it is impossible to build the new exhibit areas of Persian leopards and Jaguars.
だから、市長が公約を覆すか、市長が失脚しない限り、ペルシャヒョウとジャガーの放飼場を造ることは不可能です。



“Did mayor say ‘To cut down trees in Higashiyama zoo to build new exhibit areas’ is ‘To breach the political promises’?”, I asked Mr. A.
あたしは、Ａ氏に「市長が『放飼場を造るために木々を伐採する事』が『公約違反』だって言ったですか?」って聞いたです。

He said “I think so”.
彼は「そういうことです」って言ったです。

I couldn't believe his words, easily.
あたしは、彼の言葉を、にわかには信じらんなかったです。

If the reason why we can't see them is that they who are rare species need to focus on breeding, then I can understand that.
我々が彼らに会えない理由が、希少種である彼らが、繁殖に集中する必要があるってことなら理解できるです。

But I can't understand that "To build exhibit area in the zoo" is directly linked "To breach the political promises".
だけど、「動物園に放飼場を造る事」が、「公約違反」に直結するなんて、意味わかんないです。



At first, Mr. A said the reason is the ”Money" to build the exhibit area.
最初は、Ａ氏は、理由は、放飼場を造るための「お金」だって言ったです。

The next is the "Space".
次は「場所」。

And next is the "Political promises of mayor of Nagoya".
で、今度は「名古屋市長の公約」です。

The reasons were changed in each conversation.
話すたびに、理由が変わるです。

I thought it is questionable whether Mr. A told the truth.
あたしは、Ａ氏が、本当の事を言ってるかどうかわかんないって思ったです。

Because of that, I decided I check whether really mayor said that or not.
だから、ホントに、名古屋市長が、そんなことを言ったかどうか、確認することにしたです。




I called to Nagoya city hall to ask whether really mayor said that or not.
市長が本当に、そんなことを言ったのかどうか確認するために、名古屋市役所に電話してみたです。

Then I was passed on from one office to another, and I was returned to the charge section of "the redevelopment plan" of “Higashiyama zoo” after all.
そしたら、あちこちたらい回しにされて、結局、「東山動植物園」の「再生プラン」の担当部署に戻されたです。



This time, I had a conversation with Mr. B.
今度は、Ｂ氏と話したです。

I told him the outline to date.
あたしは、彼に、今までの概略を話したです。

And I asked him "What is the reason why we can’t see them?
で、「彼らに会えない理由は何ですか?

Is it ‘money’, ‘Space’, or ‘Political promise’?
「お金」ですか、「場所」ですか、それとも「公約」ですか?

If do I solve about what, then will you restart their exhibit?
何を解決したら、彼らの展示を再開してくれますか?

Please tell me the true reason”.
本当の理由を教えて下さい。」って言ったです。

Mr. B said “I make sure of that. And I call you back".
Ｂ氏は、「確認して折り返し電話します」って言ったです。

It tastes good. おいしいょ♪

There is a “Penguin hills” in "Saitama children's zoo".
「ペンギンヒルズ」が、「埼玉こども動物自然公園」にあるです。

It is ecosphere of Humboldt penguins' which is the largest class in the world.
「ペンギンヒルズ」は、世界最大級のフンボルトペンギンの生態圏です。

There are a large pool which is making the wave artificially, their nesting place, and some “Monkey puzzles”.
そこには、人工の波を作る大きなプールと、営巣地と、「チリマツ」があるです。

A “Monkey puzzle” is one of the pines in Chile.
「チリマツ」とは、チリの松の一種です。

Humboldt penguins in the wild live in Chile.
野生のフンボルトペンギンは、チリに住んでるです。

So, a zoo director hoped to plant the monkey puzzles in "Penguin hills".
だから、園長さんは、ペンギンヒルズに、チリマツを植えたかったです。

“Monkey puzzle” has a lot of leaves like a prickle, so it means the tree which is puzzled when monkeys climb.
「チリマツ」は、チクチクする沢山の葉っぱがあるから、サルが登るのに困惑する木っていう意味があるです。

But, there is no monkey in Chile.
でも、チリには、おサルさんはいないです。

I wonder about it but I don't know why.
どうしてなのか不思議ですけど、理由はわかんないです。



Since last month, Saitama children’s zoo started an event which the ordinary visitors can give 3 small scads to penguins when we pay 300 yen.
先月から、埼玉こども動物自然公園は、一般の来園者が300円でマメアジ３匹をペンギンさんにあげられるイベントを始めたです。




The feeding time of penguins is twice a day.
ペンギンさんのお食事タイムは、１日に２回。

First time is from 10:15am to 10:45am.
１回目は、10:15am～10:45am。

Second time is from 1:30pm to 2:00pm.
２回目は、1:30pm～2:00pm。



But if you hope to join the event of penguin feeding, then the accepting time is from 9:45am and 1:00pm.
でも、もし、ペンギンさんのイベントに参加したいなら、受付時間は9:45am～と、1:00pm～です。

Pay attention about the time, please.
時間に要注意です。



By the way, a shop beside the “Restaurant Gazebo” in “Saitama children’s zoo” is selling a cute penguin shaped “Satsumaage”.
ところで、埼玉こども動物自然公園内の「レストラン・ガゼボ」のそばの売店で、ペンギンの形の「さつま揚げ」が売ってるです。

"Satsumaage" is like a hamburger patty made of the fish.
「さつまあげ」とは、魚でできてるハンバーグのようなものです。

It is also called "Tempra", in some regions.
地方によっては、「てんぷら」とも呼ばれてるです。

I tried it.
ためしに食べてみたです。

The sequel to "A species going toward the extinction #1".
「終わりゆくものたち(その1)」の続きです。

Tohoku safari park has 2 Persian leopard.
東北サファリパークは、二頭のペルシャヒョウを所有してるです。

One of the leopards in "Tohoku safari Park" has a bad leg, because of that he/she is in the back yard and we can't see him/her.
東北サファリパークの２頭のうち１頭は、足に障害があるので、バックヤードで飼育されていて、あたしたちは会うことができないです。

The other one is in "traveling zoo" owned by "Tohoku Safari Park".
もう１頭は、東北サファリパークの移動動物園にいるです。

They are always touring the regions, and it never stay in one place.
彼らは、いつも巡業していて、一つ所に留まることはありません。



A "traveling zoo" is where the operator carries and exhibits their animals in places where people gather using busses or trucks.
移動動物園とは、動物関係の業者が所有する動物を幼稚園、小学校などに、トラックやバスで輸送して展示するというものです。
And usually, the traveling zoos have mainly small animals so that children can play with them.
そして、ふつうは、こどもたちが触れ合えるように、小動物が主体になっています。

This is my personal opinion, I think it is not good to put the big carnivores into a narrow cage and move them often.
個人的な意見ですが、大型肉食動物を狭い檻に閉じ込めて、頻繁に移動するのは、いかがなものかと思います。



The size of the transportation container is 4 square meters when they are being transported, and even the size of a large cage for exhibit is only 5 square meters.
彼らの入れられている移動時の檻は4m×4m、展示用の広い檻でも、たったの5m×5mです。

In nature, they are territorial animals.
本来彼らは、縄張りをもつ動物です。

But they often are moved, and have been locked in a narrow space where they are not even able to move up and down.
でも、彼らは、頻繁に移動させられ、上下運動もできない狭い檻の中に閉じ込められているです。

Only once or twice a year, they can return to "Tohoku Safari Park".
かれらが、東北サファリパークに戻れるのは、年に一度か二度だけです。

Only at that time, they get their freedom from the narrow cage.
彼らが、狭い檻から解放されるのは、そのときだけなのです。



Tohoku Safari Park and Iwate Safari Park exhibit them as a "leopard" not a "Persian leopard".
東北サファリパークも、岩手サファリパークも、彼らを「ペルシャヒョウ」ではなく、「ヒョウ」として展示してるです。

But it is the truth that there are the Persian leopards in Tohoku Safari Park and Iwate Safari Park.
でも、東北サファリパークにも、岩手サファリパークにも、確かにペルシャヒョウがいるのです。



They said, the reason why they decline to say they have a "Persian leopard" is that one of the Persian leopards is in the back-yard, and the other one is always absent from the zoo.
「ペルシャヒョウ」がいることを明言しない理由は、ひとつはバックヤードにいて、もうひとつは、いつも不在だからです。

Because of that they are not able to exhibit a "Persian leopard" in "Tohoku safari park", usually.
だから、普段は、東北サファリパークで、ペルシャヒョウを展示することができないからなのだそうです。

But, if so, why don't they...
でも、ならば、どうして…。
