In Sendai this summer (June to September), there were a total of 65 days with temperatures exceeding 30 ℃. Everywhere became parched.
Our Tsubonuma fields are nestled among the mountains, benefiting from morning dew. Despite not watering, taro managed to grow. However, upon harvesting on November 19, the average size was disappointingly small.................around 1kg per plant, compared to the usual 2.5kg, including parent taro.
To those who participated in the harvest festival, we apologize. It's not just the weather, our regular fertilization wasn't up to par. We deeply reflect on this.
Here's the resolution.
Don't discard small taro due to the difficulty of peeling.
Boil them with the skin, add a teaspoon of salt, simmer for 5 minutes. After turning off the heat, let it sit for 2〜3minutes, then peel the skin smoothly.
Enjoy as a great accompaniment to your evening drink !
