〇今年で31年目イタリアの「ポッレッタ・ソウル・フェスティヴァル」
【Porretta Soul Festival: Sweet Soul Music : 31st Year Since 1988】
31年目。
イタリアのポッレッタ（ポッレッタ・テルメ）という街で、1988年から行われている「ポレッタ・ソウル・フェスティヴァル」というフェスがなかなかすごい。「ソウル・フェス」と名をつけるが、なんと1960年代から70年代にかけてのソウル、ファンク、サザン・ソウル・アーティストなどを中心にラインアップを組んでいる。メンフィス、メンフィス・サウンドを軸にアーティストを選定、さらに、オーティス・レディング・トリビュートを大きな看板としている。ポッレッタは、イタリア・ボローニャ県、イタリア北部ボローニャから車で約1時間半の山にある温泉地。ボローニャとフィレンツェの中間あたりにある。
今年（2018年）は7月19日（木）から22日（日）まで4日間、イタリア・ポッレッタで行われる。基本的には毎年7月の第3週の週末にポッレッタのルーファス・トーマス公園で行われている。今年はオーティス・レディング・トリビュート、「ソウル・トレイン・トリビュート」、ドン・ブライアント・フィーチャリング・ザ・ボーキーズ、スワンプ・ドッグ、スペンサー＆パーシー・ウィギンス、ウィ・ウィリー・ウォーカーなどが出演する。他にも、イタリアのソウル・バンドも出る。

チケットは各日だと30ユーロ（約4050円）、4日券は90ユーロ（約12150円）、3日券は75ユーロ（約9450円）。（1ユーロ135円換算）
日本のファンク・バンド、オーサカ＝モノレールも2013年、2015年にこのフェスに出演している。
【ポッレッタ・ソウル・フェスティヴァル】
ポッレッタ・ソウル・フェスティヴァルは、同地の熱心なソウル・ファンでもあるグラッツィアーノ・ユリアーニが1987年12月にジョージア州メイコンで行われたオーティス・レディング死去20周年のイヴェントに参加したことから、これに似たものを地元のポッレッタで行いたいと翌1988年から始めた。ユリアーニの本職は広告代理店業。
以来毎年7月にメンフィス・ソウル系のアーティストや地元、あるいはヨーロッパのソウル・アーティストを招き盛大にライヴを行ってきた。
現在ではポッレッタに、「ルーファス・トーマス公演」「オーティス・レディング・ストリート」もできた。
ユリアーニは1947年12月29日生まれ。現在70歳になる。オーティス・レディングが1967年12月8日飛行機事故で死去したとき、19歳だった。この頃からそうしたソウル・ミュージックが大好きだったという。

1986年12月にチューリッヒでソロモン・バークのコンサートを見て、そのときマネージャーと連絡先を交換。その後、『スイート・ソウル・ミュージック』を書いたピーター・ギュラルニック、さらに音楽ジャーナリストのロブ・ボウマン（『ソウルヴィルUSA：ストーリー・オブ・スタックス・レコーズ』を1997年リリース）などと連携を取り、イタリアでソウル、R&Bの普及に尽力するようになった。
1987年12月、アメリカ南部を旅し、多くの知己を得た彼は翌年このライヴ・イヴェントを企画、当初は一年だけのつもりだったが、これが毎年続くようになり、結局30年以上継続することになった。
彼が市に働きかけ、「ルーファス・トーマス公演」「オーティス・レディング・ストリート」を命名したという。
しかし、イタリアの小さな街で行われているために、集客は多くて3000人、1800人から2000人程度、しかもチケットは驚くほど安い。今年で言えば3日通し券で1万円しない。夏場で飛行機代も高い。若干、市からのサポートはあるが、毎年赤字だという。さらに雨になり、中止になると大変なことになるそうだ。しかし、彼の情熱でこれを続けているという。
