クリスマスイブの日ですね。メリークリスマスでございます
本日は、午後から次年度予定されている英語舞台劇シェークスピア作品『ロミオ＆ジュリエット』のzoomオンラインセッションを、海外からのデレクター指導により受講していました。
想像はしていたのですが、やはり、初期近代英語による台詞、極東の島国で生まれ育った人類にはとてもハードルが高いです。
これでも、日本で生まれ育ち、ネアンデルタール人の遺伝子を９５％継承していると自負するダース塩川でありますが、その言語能力があまりにも稚拙で、現生人類様の各言語に対応するのが大変で四苦八苦でございますね。
特に英語に関して、何で、極東のこの国の人々が苦手であるのかという現実について、ネットサーチしていたら、以下の記事を見つけました。

第二言語習得研究の観点から、日本人が英語を苦手とする主な理由は3つある。
１．日本語と英語の言語間距離
２．英語学習へのモチベーション
３．インプットとアウトプットの機会の不足
1. interlanguage distance between Japanese and English
The most frequently mentioned reason why Japanese people have difficulty with English, from the perspective of second language acquisition, is simply that "Japanese" and "English" are too far apart as languages. In technical terms, the term "interlanguage distance" is used. Japanese and English differ in every way, from the characters (kana/kana/kanji and alphabet), to the way they are pronounced, to the sentence structure.
１.日本語と英語の言語間距離
日本人が英語を苦手とする理由として、第二言語習得の観点から最もよく挙げられるのは、単純に「日本語」と「英語」が言語として離れすぎていることである。専門用語で「言語間距離」という言葉がある。日本語と英語は、文字（かな・漢字・アルファベット）から発音の仕方、文の構造まで、あらゆる点で異なる。
The Foreign Service Institute (FSI), an agency of the U.S. Department of State, published data on the distance between Japanese and English in 1985, which shows a three-level classification of the difficulty level of learning each language for native English speakers. According to the FSI table, Japanese is the most difficult language for native English speakers to learn, belonging to Category 3 (very difficult to learn for native English speakers; requires 2,200 hours of instruction over 88 weeks; half of the study time should be spent in the country of origin). Japanese is considered the most difficult language to learn among Category 3 languages such as Chinese and Korean.
米国国務省の機関であるフォーリン・サービス・インスティテュート（FSI）が1985年に発表した日本語と英語の距離に関するデータでは、英語を母国語とする人々にとっての各言語の学習難易度が3段階に分類されている。FSIの表によると、日本語は英語を母国語とする人にとって最も習得が難しい言語であり、カテゴリー3（英語を母国語とする人にとって習得が非常に難しい、88週間で2,200時間の授業が必要、学習時間の半分は母国で過ごすべき）に属する。日本語は、中国語や韓国語などのカテゴリー3に属する言語の中で、最も習得が難しい言語とされている。
以上、要約ですが、英語を母国後の方々にとって、日本語は最も難しい言語であるということで、逆も真なりということなのでしょうね。
さらに、２．英語学習へのモチベーション ３．インプットとアウトプットの機会の不足
に関しても触れたいのですが、今日は、楽しいクリスマスイブの日でありますし、深夜の遅い時間に、ブツブツ書いてもおもしろくありませんので、次回のブログでまた書きます。
