Our town Kosaka and Southern Cross English club

                This is Kosaka station

It’s already 10:30 pm so every store of a shopping street is closed but some restaurants are still open.

Although it’s late night, it is a nice and safe place. Around the area, there are many universities and colleges such as Osaka University of Commerce, Osaka Shoin women’s college, Higashiosaka University, Kindai University and their attached high schools. They add a cultural and sophisticated atmosphere to the area. All generations from preschool children to senior citizens can learn in our class.

Rainy season but walk without umbrellas

Since yesterday, we have the rainy season here in Osaka according to a weather news. It’s lucky we don’t get wet though it rains heavily because the most parts of the route are covered with the roofs from our condo to our work place and the nearby railway station.

大阪も昨日から梅雨入りしました。

私たちが今住んでいるところから仕事場の駅前の教室まで大部分の道のりがアーケードになっているので雨でもほとんど濡れないのはラッキーです。

I went to a Chinese temple

This afternoon I went to a Chinese temple in Osaka for the first time.It is 関帝廟 whose god is 関羽.

One tourist from Macau there kindly told me that today is a birthday of the god.

What a coincidence!

観音堂と航海の神様の媽祖も祀られています。媽祖の廟である媽閣廟がマカオにありこれが地名の由来とか。そのマカオからのツーリストは滞在地の長堀から地図アプリで遠路歩いて来たと言っていたのはそういう縁だったのかも。

思い出しました。堺の美原区にある法雲寺というお寺(ツツジのきれいなところ)も関帝廟ではないが同じ黄檗宗の中国風のお寺でした。
