Recently I mentioned some old photos and the episode that my grandfather picked up a small stone at a site of a shrine in his hometown and kept it in his chest pocket as a talisman during the Japan Russia War.

When we visited the shrine and my daughter picked up a small stone there. As a matter of fact, she left Japan for Malaysia keeping the stone in her bag this summer.

I feel that her great grandfather’s good luck  has been handed down to her over 120 years leading to her successful life in Malaysia.

I found my grandfather’s photo in the drawer taken in 1902 that is 123 years ago. I think it was when he was drafted.

I successfully read the name of the photo studio and its location at the bottom of the photo frame.

I tried to find them with Google map and I can guess roughly where they were but no more such a name of studio seems to be there.

We are having my mother’s memorial service  today inviting a monk.

If you ask me what kind of person she was,

I can say she was a very tender and conscientious person. She was the person who taught me how to behave properly as a human.

I still remember her teaching when I feel I step a wrong way.

Thank you for your love to me.

I will try to live the way you taught me.
