At last I’ve found

I feel like reading books especially in the field of Japanese literature.
But it’s difficult to find books of those fields because many book stores have disappeared.
This afternoon, I visited a large book store by bike and at last I found the book I had been looking for. The story is about the four sisters of a merchant family in Osaka. They are the same generation of my mother and her sister so the atmosphere of the story has something similar to my mother’s young time.
このところ書店の閉店が多く、私の読んでみたい本がなかなか見つからなかった。この午後やっと地域で唯一残っていた大型書店に自転車で行く機会ができたので買うことができました。私の母の世代の商家の姉妹の物語で何となく当時の雰囲気を感じるという娘の言で読んでみたくなりました。いわゆる大正、昭和モダニズムとか言われる時代かなと想像しています。読んでみてのお楽しみです。

知と文化の拠点Bookstores disappeared

Recently many bookstores were closed down. I think it is because not many people read books.

We see more people watching cellphones than reading books on trains.

私がいつも映画の待ち時間に利用していたアベノの書籍店、松原のショッピングセンター内にあった書籍店も最近なくなってしまった。アベノにはユーゴーとか旭屋とか規模の大きな本屋さんがあって便利だったが寂しい限りです。本屋さんはそう地域の知識や文化の拠点を担っていたと思います。残念ですね。

母は季節に合わせて床の間に掛軸を飾っていました。掛軸はまだかなりありますが惜しいことに保管状態があまりよくないです。この時計はアメリカ製で内部を見ると140年ぐらい前のものです。

私？保管状態は良好ですよ。
