高嶺星（たかねほし）蚕飼（こがい）の村は寝しづまり
解説によれば、作者は、春の夜、高尾山大垂水峠から、養蚕を行う農家の村を見下ろす。星の輝く空の下、村の人々は寝静まり、村のあるあたりは、闇に包まれている。作者は体験を踏まえるが想像でこの句を作る。
According to the commentary, the author looks down on a village of farmers farming sericulture from Mt. Takao's Otarumi Pass on a spring night. The people of the village are asleep under the starry sky, and the area around the village is shrouded in darkness. The author creates this phrase based on his own experience, but also from his imagination.
