飯田蛇笏 Iida-Dakothu
なまなまと白紙の遺骨秋の風
昭和21年の作品。秋の風の吹くころ、亡くなった人の遺髪が白い紙に包まれ縁者に披露されている。死がなまなましく感じられる。
A work from 1945. When the autumn winds blow, the hair of the deceased is wrapped in white paper and shown to their relatives. Death feels vivid.
遺髪は戦死した人のものであろうか。昭和21年秋といえば、敗戦後、間もなくのこと。戦争が終わり、戦争で死ぬことが無駄な事であったのに、その白い紙が示す死の事実がなまなましい。
Did the hair belong to someone who died in battle? The fall of 1945 was shortly after Japan's defeat in the war. Even though the war was over and dying in the war was a waste, the fact of death shown on that white paper is vivid.
