繭売って骨身のゆるむ夫婦かな
昭和9年の作品。夏、養蚕作業を終え、繭を売って、骨身の緩む状態の農家の夫婦です。
A work from 1933. A farming couple are relieved after successfully selling their cocoons after cultivating sericulture in the summer.
今も、私の亡き母の実家や妻の実家に行くと、養蚕作業場であった部屋がある。稼げたという話は聞かないが、蛾の幼虫を飼育して、繭ができるまで、日々、相当ハードな作業であったようだ。
Even now, when I go to my late mother's parents' house or my wife's parents' house, I see a room that used to be a sericulture workshop. I haven't heard that they made any money, but it seems like they had to work very hard every day to raise moth larvae until they produced cocoons.
