秦が法家思想を尊重したことに対して、前漢は、黄老思想を尊重する。
黄老思想とは、ウイキペディアによれば、
『黄帝四経』や『老子』をその思想的根拠・教典とし、君主が天道に背く君主の勝手な行動をとることを禁じ、また秩序維持のために社会に過度に干渉することは避け、さらに統治にかかるコストを下げるべきとする考えとある。
This idea forbids the emperor to take arbitrary actions. This idea is that the nation should avoid overly interfering with society to maintain order.
And this idea is that the nation should reduce the cost of governance.
1973年、長沙馬王堆漢墓三号墓から『黄帝四経』（経法、十六経、称、道原）が出土し、黄老思想の内容がより明らかとなった。
