先日書いた「竹里館」（王維）の英訳が見つかったので以下に紹介する。
「竹里館」 王維
独坐幽篁裏 独り坐す 幽篁（ゆうこう）の裏（うち）
弾琴復長嘯 琴を弾じては 復た長嘯（ちょうしょう）す
深林人不知 深林 人は知らず
明月来相照 明月来たりて 相照らす
（現代語訳）
ひっそりとした竹薮の中に一人で座り、琴を弾いたり声を長く伸ばして詩を吟じたりしている。
こんな深い森林の中に私がいることを誰も知るまい。ただ月明かりだけがそれを知っているかのように私を照らしてくれる。

（英訳紹介）
1)
Alone, I sit by the side of a deep bamboo forest.
I play a Chinese harp and recite a poem slowly.
About this deep forest, people know nothing.
The bright moon comes and shines it.
2)
Whilst sitting alone in the quiet bamboo grove,
I play the koto and whisper poems slowly.
No one knows where I am in the deep forest,
Only the moonlight comes up to shed on myself.
2)は自作だが、誰かの後に作るのはある意味簡単である。「琴」は正しくは”thirteen-string koto”というようである。1)は楽器”Chinese harp”の冠詞を”the”とすべきではないか。
