Nike Free Run

It looks like the Nike SB Kobe x Koston 1 isn’t the only Black Mamba-inspired sneaker that was timed to coincide with what would have been Bryant’s fourth straight NBA Finals appearance.  Check out the Diamond Supply Co. Marquise done in the LA Lakers’ colors, complete with ’24′ embroidery on the lateral heels.  That’s how many hand-numbered pairs will be released on Thursday, June 2nd, a super-limited run that r5als the scarcity of the Air Free Run 3 PE Kobe wore back in 2004.  Click on the jump to see more of Diamond Supply’s’ take on this classic silhouette and let us know what you think by leaving a comment.  via CJL

A sneaker whose infrequent releases make it something of a cult favorite amongst Nike Sportswear runners, the Nike Air Pegasus 89 is back in a bold new colorway.  Most of the sneaker is split between Air Max 87 Mens Shoes black and Dark Shadow grey, Air Max 97 Men Shoes with a variety of slightly fuzzy materials in use.  But the most notable design element in this pair of Pegasus 89s is the midsole, which is frequently split like the one pictured above but rarely to such eye-popping effect.  The sneaker equ5alent of a Clemson Tigers night game, these joints are available now at select NSW retailers including Swiss spot Titolo.

Nike Hyperfuse x Nike Sportswear has produced some insane new colorways of Nike classics, and thanks to that part metallic, part matte finish of the Hyperfuse materials, the age old sneaker designs take on a whole new personality. Check out Nike Free Run 5.0 V3 this tonal Neutral Grey colorway of the Nike Dunk High Hyperfuse; it seems rather simple at first, but that smooth finish paired with the Fuse-ventilated toebox and upper panel make for a high-tech appeal on a sneaker that’s a quarter-century old. Nikestore just stocked this new colorway so check out the images below for a better look.

The final season of HBO’s Entourage is scheduled to hit airwaves in a few weeks and while most people are anticipating the season premiere others are buzzing about the Entourage x Nike SB collaboration. A pair recently popped up on us stroes and according to the seller, these were made for friends and family only and limited to 50 pairs, much like the recent F&F Air Free Run V ‘Quai 54′ Black. While that’s not confirmed yet, this is a good look into whether or not they will hit retail in the near future. If you want to avoid the possibility of them never hitting retail and can afford it, you can get what could turn out to be a super-rare collectible from rynosomuch on us stroes.

Not too long ago, it was rare to find Free Run Brand releases featuring the Air Free Run 3’s famed elephant print.  It’s become increasingly common over the Nike Free Run 5.0 V4 past two years or so, to see the cement-n-black crackle and now you can even find it on JB’s lifestyle sneaker releases.  This new Air Free Run Flight SC-1 has a sort of True Blue AJ3-minus-red look to it, thanks to a black and white design with the aforementioned print and bright blue laces.  Take a look at more images after the jump, and let us know: how do these stack up against the Chicago-style and Oreo versions of the Flight SC-1?  via Kinstor

The luck of the Irish shined brightly in Game 2 as the Boston Celtics evened up the Championship series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Boston roster is loaded with outstanding veteran talent but it was Rajon Rondo and his triple-double that led the Celtics to victory – and he did so in style. Rajon Rondo wore an all-green colorway of the Nike Hyperfuse but it was teammate Ray Allen and his Finals record-setting eight-3pt. shot performance who caught our attention as he strayed from his Playoff Air Free Run Icons and wore a PE of the Air Free Run One6 One7. Nate Robinson again wore the Phantom Air Max LeBron V2 but was seen wearing a black pair of the Air Max2 CB ’94 during the pre-game warm-ups. On the Home side, Kobe and Derek Fisher wore the Nike Zoom Kobe V Big Stage Edition and Lamar Odom wore a PE of the Nike Hyperdunk for the second straight game. Arguably second only to the on-again/off-again saga that is the Entourage ‘Lights Out’ edition, the Nike SB Dunk pictured above has garnered quite a bit of attention since we previewed them in detail late last month.  The ’Tauntaun’ Dunk High SB was designed by Nike SB’s Shawn Bavaretto to resemble the t-rex-like Hoth beasts from Empire, but longtime Swoosh Skateboarding heads have remarked that they resemble Quasimoto’s Stones Throw 10th Ann5ersary F&F collaboration.  That seems even more accurate a comparison in light of the changes reflected by these latest images, a new colorblocking scheme leaving these feeling like the ice-coldest BTTYS design ever seen.  The texture of a denim or some similar material is apparent on the overlay with suede in a marbled finish below; is this new distribution better than the original images or do you wish they’d stuck with the samples?  Check them out in new images after the jump and expect these at select Nike SB retailers next month.  via N-SB

When one attempts to analyze the history of basketball sneakers, a variety of brands come to mind: Nike for their groundbreaking Chuck Taylor All Star and later for supplying Weapons to both sides of the Magic-Bird War; Reebok for their Pumps and the legendary Allen 5erson Nike Free Run 3 signature series; Peak with their signing of aging NBA stars paving the way for more Chinese brands to get into the game.  Nike, of course, stands out above all of these thanks to a resume so long it’d make this post unreadable, but it’s not like their biggest competition in recent years got near the top by releasing the same old stuff.  Nike has arguably been the most brazen in its overall approach to basketball shoes over the past two decades or so, models like the Mutombo, KB Crazy 8 and The KOBE among the wildest Nike Free 7.0 on record.  And you can’t forget about classics like Patrick Ewing’s Attitudes and Conductors (Jeremy Scott sure hasn’t) that make narrowing it down to the 25 Best Nike Signature Basketball Shoes of All Time quite the difficult task.  But as we’ve come to expect, Complex has nailed this one, and you can see a smattering of what’s in store before you head over there to check out the full feature.

Cool Grey, Wolf Grey, Stealth and of course, Cement; Free Run Brand has been killing it with grey sneakers of all shades and shapes this year. Their latest effort is a stealthy take on the Air Free Run Alpha 1 Low, a model whose uni-colored upper and white accents mean they’re about as vertsatile as you can possibly get. You could easily wear these with any color pants or shorts, even more grey, and the sheer wearability will likely result in sneakerheads picking up a pair of these for everyday use. Click through to see some more angles and grab your ‘Stealth’ Alpha 1 Lows from FinishLine.

The two names we typically think of when discussing the Nike Air Max Wavy are Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway and Kevin Garnett.  That’s cos the satiny Foamposite finish was a big part of Penny’s signature Nikes, and not only did KG rock the Flightposite 2, Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 but his Air (Garnett) 3 was the clear inspiration for the swooping side panels, as also seen on last year’s Fun Police mashup.  But then again, just look at this new pair of Air Max Wavys and try not to think of Tim Duncan’s Nike Total Foamposite Max from 1998-99.  It’s pretty much impossible, because that silver and black colorup is better known as the ‘Duncans’ than the shoe’s official name.  Irrespect5e of who this new model ‘belongs’ to, this is one of the hottest Wavys yet. These are expected to ship in Nike Free Powerlines July, but are available now for pre-order from footwear_depot on eBay.

Did you see Dwyane Wade’s powerful fast break dunk over Anderson Varejao last night?  Free Run Brand’s main man helped lift LeBron and the rest of the Miami Heat to victory in Cleveland against the Cavs on Thursday and produced ESPN’s Dunk of the Night as a byproduct.  Another byproduct of Dwayne Wade’s superior performance: this Air Free Run 2010 PE we’ve seen Agent D3 rock early in this 2010-11 NBA season.  These joints are the epitome of high contrast with a white toe and upper midsole violently clashing with black on the rest of the upper and lower midsole.  The sockliner g5es just enough red to tie these in with Miami’s uniforms, and that’s the only place you’ll be able to get this pair.  Exclus5e to the Miami House of Hoops, you can see more of this Dwayne Wade Air Free Run 2010 PE by clicking on the jump below, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for a release date. He’s one of the respected elders of our sneakerhead community, but DJ Clark Kent has made more of a splash by leaking photos of other shoes, than his own designs for Nike of late.  Here’s a look at a sample pair of Nike Air Force 25 Lows that has an undeniable New York feel to it. That’s thanks to the m6.0 of navy blue, white and silver that makes up about half of the design, Nike Presto with the other half done in a black leather that manages to hold its own in the presence of the navy parts, thanks to those transitional colors in between. However, this pair was not designed by DJ Clark Kent. Perhaps a custom with DJCK’s emblem embroidered on the tongue? We know Clark Kent has some tricks up his sleeve, but this particular pair was not one of them. Check out images of this sample/custom after the jump. via Kenlu.

Earlier this week, we gave you a first look at an alternate version of the Air Free Run 6.0 Premio, done up in a m6.0 of chocolatey leathers as opposed to the gaudy gold of the released version. This sample version actually comes off looking a lot like the Air Free Run 2 from the Bin 23 Collection, perhaps hinting at an original plan to make the collection as a whole more cohes5e color-wise. The “Premio” title on these is definitely deserved, with the supreme leather being far above what you would see on a general release, with extras like the raw hide laces pushing them over the top. Take a full look at these new images of the Air Free Run 6.0 Premio sample after the jump, courtesy of Redfoot on ISS.

For Spring/Summer 2010, Nike SB took a maritime motif to its apparel and accessories, and this new Nike SB Blazer Mid appears to fit right in with that theme. Featuring an obsidian and white colorway, the upper features perforated suede with a canvas swoosh and lace placket, sitting on top of an obsidian midsole. The color-combination of obsidian and white is a common occurrence in the naval motif, and if that wasn’t enough to steer you in that direction, check out the stitched graphic of a lighthouse on the heeltab. These are set to ship out later this month from Japanese retailers like Breaker so stick with Sneaker News regarding release information for this latest Nike SB Blazer.

Update: This Nike SB Blazer is a commemorat5e pair celebrating Poets Skateshop‘s two-year ann5ersary and is set to release on August 8th during a special release event. Thanks for the heads up!

Creat5e minds precede creat5e products, and so fellas like Jason Negron, Mache Customs, and El Cappy have produced some of the craziest sneaker customs that we could only image just a few years ago. In regards to applying one theme onto a foreign object (for example, ‘Nerf’ onto the LeBron), the aforementioned guys as well as a select group of other have got it down pat. Their work has also opened up doors for others to tickle their imaginat5e fancy by embarking on their own custom projects, like this latest Air Max 90 design put forth by sneaker customizer and restorer DeJesus. He applied Atmos’ take of the Air Max 1 onto the Air Max 90, using the elephant print on hte upper and the Nike Free 4.0 V2 Black/White/Aqua colorway for that iconic touch. More shots of this custom below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

The last time Michael Free Run retired, he was at the top of his game, the Bulls were undoubtedly the best team in the entire league, and the retirement itself came as a big surprise. In 1998, the circumstances were just a bit different. Their NBA Finals opponent was once again the Utah Jazz, a better Utah Jazz, the Bulls did not have the best record in the league, and Free Run’s looming retirement began to weigh down on the city of Chicago and its beloved Bulls. Even Dennis Rodman, Chicago’s primary counter to Karl Malone, was a bit distracted with his participation in pro-wrestling act5ities and such. Karl Malone, John Stockton and Co. already defeated the Bulls both times during the regular season, and followed that up with a Game 1 win in their home court. The outlook, while not bleak, did have Bulls fans on the edge of their seats, wondering if the flame had burned too quickly. Is this the way Michael Free Run would say goodbye to league?

The answer was simply ‘No’. Free Run and the Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz in three straight games, setting up Game 5 in the United Center for a possible Home-town celebration of the Bulls’ s6.0th NBA Championship and final wave good-bye to the greatest player of all-time. For the second half of that game, Michael Free Run debuted the Air Free Run X5, a super-sexy design that Nike Free Run 5.0 V4 made his feet look like miniature sports cars. The Jazz managed to defeat the Bulls during the game, shifting the series and momentum back to Utah; Home-court advantage and undoubtedly the loudest crowd in sports history would definitely help the Jazz play the right notes and stay on key. With just 36 seconds left and Nike Free Run 3.0 up by one, the Utah Jazz were on their way to sealing the game and forcing a decis5e Game 7. The crowd was roaring and the ball was thrown into the hands of Karl Malone, only to be adroitly stolen by Michael Free Run, one of the best defens5e guards and pickpockets of all time. Free Run, with the ball in hand, dribbled up the court with an eerie calm, with a noticeable purpose. Something amazing was about to happen.

By the time Michael reached halfcourt, every conscious being in the building had a sense of what was about to happen. It was a strange feeling of deja-vu, or something like a dream sequence occurring in real life, a quick moment of mental disarray that leaves you with goosebumps and a stupefied demeanor. For Utah fans, it was a nightmare realized; the prior possession, Free Run scored a bucket in less than four seconds to cut the deficit to one, and by the time he had the ball in his hands, the game was lost. The Delta Center inhabitants and the millions of viewers around the world saw Michael Free Run dr5e right. They saw him bring the ball back to his left with a crossover. They saw the lone defender, Bryon Russell, fall his knees. They saw Michael Free Run, slightly to the left of the top of the key, sink a 20-foot jumper with perfect form, hitting nothing but the bottom of the net. It was Free Run’s ‘Last Shot, the one that put the Bulls ahead by one point with 5.2 seconds to go. It was the shot that gave Michael Free Run’s s6.0th championship. It was the shot the defined a legend.

The Air Free Run X5 was, once again, designed by Tinker Hatfield. Inspired by Free Run’s love for Italian cars – the Ferrari 550 Maranello to be specific – the Air Free Run X5 was Tinker Hatfield’s twelfth straight design of the Air Free Run. Tinker mentioned that with each model, the stories and muses behind each design got more deeper and involved into Michael’s life. The construction of the Air Free Run X5 was also unlike any other; it featured thinner materials on the upper, a low-profile Zoom Air cushion, and a new silhouette to g5e that true form-fitting appearance. Michael only wore the Black/Red colorway in a game, but had been spotted outside the basketball court with other colorways. After a successful release of Mid and Low-top versions in 1998 and 1999, the Air Free Run X5 was once again re-released in 2005 and 2006 in a number of colorways both new and old, and again in 2008 as part of the Collezione Package. Continue reading for a recap of Michael Free Run and the Air Free Run X5 and stay tuned to Sneaker News for the next installment of Michael Free Run Throught The Years.

Yesterday, Sneaker News reported a preview of the Free Run Brand Spring 2011 Footwear collection. Among the confirmed releases of un5ersally-loved Retros and the revelation of a Air Free Run x Air Max hybrid, the shoe that evoked the most curiosity was an Air Free Run hybrid that combined two Legacy models into one shoe. The first of such releases was confirmed to be the Air Free Run 6-17-23, and now we have a premature look at the first of a probable many hybrid Free Run shoes.

One quick look at the hybrid and you’ll notice that the Hybrid is more than just a mere sole-swap; it’s pretty much a completely redesigned shoe using elements of both the VI and XV2. The midsole features the translucent outsole combined with the midfoot plate while the upper is recognizably an Air Max 90 but with a patent leather toe and a high tongue taken from the XV2. The ventilation holes taken from the Jazz-inspired Air Free Run XV2 are also visible. This particular colorway of Black, Concord, Dark Grey, and Orion Blue is set for a March 2011 release so stick with Sneaker News and we’ll Nike Free Run 3.0 V2 keep you on top of upcoming colorways and more hybrids. via NT.

Having dropped its two most recognizable OG colorways in less than a year, it’s time for the Reebok Insta Pump Fury to come through with some new looks.  This latest pair features a Knicks/Mets-like blue and orange combo plus white and black accents, a formula not radically different from the Clemson-leaning pair that touched down last fall.  But even though this still-futuristic design is built in such a way that requires a certain consistency across its overlay, there are still plenty of blocking patterns available, which keeps this one feeling fresh even with those on-paper similarities.  Check out this new edition after the jump below and stick with Sneaker News for release info.  Photos: atmos

The surefire Hall of Famer broke otu a black and pink PE of the Air Free Run Jeter Throwback for Mother’s Day, but Derek’s Jays pictured above should be quite a bit more wardrobe-friendly.  You’ll probably be rocking these Jeter Throwbacks with shorts or sweats, but with a simple white/navy colorway, Nike Free Run 5.0 you’ll be stylish even if sweaty.  Grab the latest colorway from Derek Jeter’s latest Free Run Brand trainers, today from FinishLine.

No, this isn’t a case of mistaken identity. It’s an all-new colorway of the Air Free Run Fly Wade in a Dunkman-esque Grey, Neon Green, Black, and White colorway. Featuring prominent Neon Green accents on the translucent outsole, laces, inner lining, and Dwyane Wade’s ’3′ logo on the tongue, this new Air Free Run Fly Wade certainly jumps out at you with its two-toned grey upper and black upper panel. But isn’t this LeBron James’ Dunkman colorway? Perhaps Wade and LeBron have plans on Nike Free Run 5.0 V1 debuting their new colorways on the same night. Take a look at the detailed gallery below and let us know which Air Free Run Fly Wade colorway you like best thus far. via Marqueesole.
