最近読んだ、「夢を実現する」系の本に共通して書いてあったこと3つ紹介する。
I'd like to introduce three things that I noticed in common in books I've read recently about making your dreams come true.
①「自分を枠にはめない」
"Don't put yourself in a box"
私たちは常識や固定観念に縛られて生活している。
We live our lives bound by common sense and stereotypes.
こうすると人に笑われるとか、こうすると反対されるとか考えてしまう人が多い。
Many people think that if they do this, others will laugh at them, or that if they do that, others will dislike them.
でも枠の中に収まって生きていたら、いつの間にか時間がなくなって死んでしまう。
But if you live your life confined to a box, you will run out of time and die before you know it.
死ぬときに後悔したくなければ、枠に縛られずやりたいことをやる。
If you don't want to have regrets when you die, do what you want to do without being bound by boxes.
この勇気を持つことが大事だ。
It's important to have this courage.
②「プライドよりも目標実現」
"Achieve your goals rather than pride"
恥をかきたくないから、チャレンジしない人も多い。
Many people don't take on challenges because they don't want to be embarrassed.
でも、そんな考えでは目標は実現できない。
But you won't achieve your goals with that kind of thinking.
恥を捨てる勇気を持つことが必要だ。
You need to have the courage to throw away your embarrassment.
そもそも、他人はあなたをそれほど見ていない。
In the first place, other people don't pay that much attention to you.
恥をかいたと思っているのは、おそらく自分だけだ。
You're probably the only one who thinks you've been embarrassed.
考える前にとりあえずやってみよう。
Try it before you think about it.
失敗したら軌道修正をすれば良いだけなのだから。
If you fail, you can just correct your course.
③「成功したけりゃジェスチャーを使え」
"Use gestures if you want to succeed"
人と対面して話す場合、相手に与える印象の割合は、話の内容が20%、残りの80%は外見と行動だ。
When you talk to someone face-to-face, the impression you give to the other person is 20% based on what you say, and the remaining 80% is your appearance and behavior.
私たちは相手の身なりや行動を見ている。
We look at the other person's appearance and behavior.
成功したいのであれば、言葉の力だけでなくジェスチャーを使って伝えることを覚えよう。
If you want to be successful, learn to communicate with gestures as well as the power of words.
滝川クリステルのあの、「おもてなし」は、ジェスチャーがなければ、ここまで有名になっていない。
Christel Takigawa's "Omotenashi" (hospitality) would not have become so famous without her gestures.
ジェスチャーの力を甘く見てはいけない。
Don't underestimate the power of gestures.
