ジョン・ラター：「弦楽のための組曲」と各楽章のテーマになった民謡のメモ
イギリスの現代の作曲家ジョン・ラターは合唱界で大御所のようですが，器楽曲も「弦楽のための組曲」などが有名でよく演奏されています。「弦楽のための組曲」の４つの楽章はそれぞれ元となった古民謡があり，テーマとして出てきますので一緒にメモしておきます。I. A-Roving II. I have a Bonnet Trimmed with Blue III. O Waly Waly IV. Traditional: Dashing Away With the Smoothing Iron (3:59)Mat Williams- A Collection of Traditional British Folk Songs ------------It was on a Monday morningAnd there I saw my darling，She looked so neat and charmingIn ev’ry high degree.She looked so neat and nimble OA-washing of her linen O，Dashing away with the smoothing ironShe stole my heart away.-----------洗濯をしてアイロンをかけている彼女が素敵で見惚れているようです。これが，月曜から日曜まで続きます(^^;;;。４曲ともに恋愛系ですね。ラター先生もなかなか隅に置けません(^^)。イギリスは海洋国家ですし，サッカー代表で分かるように４つの国でできています。民謡も地域によって少し民族性というか趣が違うみたいですね。ちなみに「ロンドンデリーの歌」のロンドンデリーは北アイルランドの都市なので，曲はアイリッシュなのでしょう。
