MG: The record release was preceded by the worldwide hit with
Aretha Franklin,'I Knew You Were Waiting For Me’ you couldn't
have asked for a better set-up.
GM: From an artistic point of view and from the point of view of
my ego – it just got better and better.
MG：FAITHに続いて、世界的ヒットとなったアレサ・フランクリンとの
"I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" がでたわけだけど
あれは本当に幸運だったよね。
GM：そう、アーティストとしても最高だったし、僕の自己顕示浴を満足させる
ためにも、もう本当に最高だった。
MG: FAITH sold a million copies in its first week in the states…
GM: Really?
MG：FAITHはアメリカで発売された週に100万枚売れたけど…
GM：まじで？
MG: Which was extraordinary, but you could make great records
and you also knew what you had to do to get it out there
GM: Absolutely, and always at the center of it there's this
ridiculously immovable belief in what I do. But It happened so
much that I would achieve things that hadn't been achieved
before, in terms of records or whatever, that I kind of didn't
notice what I was achieving.
MG：これは異例ですよ。つまり、きみは音楽的才能はもちろんのこと、
売れるためにはなにが必要かってことも知っていた。
GM：もちろん。そしてその中心には、いつもバカみたいに頑固な自信があるんだ。
でも、いろんな記憶をどんどん破っちゃったり、すごいことが一気に起こったので
その時は自分ではそのすごさに対して以外と自覚がなかったんだ。
