３年ぶりに歯医者さんに行きました。
歯が痛い個所があったのですが、久しぶりなので、歯のクリーニングから行うことになりました。
眼の上に布を置かれていたので、どんな器具を使って何を行われたかは推量するしかありません（とはいっても、私は全くの素人なので、見てもわかりませんが）。
最初に、「ギーギー」という音を出しながら、針のように細い先端が歯に触れるのがわかりました。
調べてみると、これは多分、「超音波スケーラ―」という歯石を除去する機械です。「ハンドスケーラー」という歯石取りの器具もあり、これは一般に購入できます。
衛生士さんは、超音波スケーラ―とハンドスケーラーの個所によって使い分けるそうです。
その後、「磨いていきます」という声がして、歯の表面を何かザラザラしたもので磨かれる感触がありました。オレンジみたいな美味しい味がしました。
調べてみると、これは「クリーニングジェル」であり、オレンジではなく、グレープフルーツ味だそうです。
さらに色々やった後、「歯の型をとります」と言われ、噛むとグニャーとする冷たいものが口に入れられました。
これは「アルジネート」という印象材です。
40分くらいの治療がやっと終わりました。疲れましたが、おもしろい体験ができました。治療費は5,170円でした。
蝉がミンミンと鳴く夏の午後に歯医者さんに行くと、なぜか小学生の頃を思い出します。子供のころ、よく夏休みに歯医者に通ったものです。「夏」「歯医者さん」「蝉」は懐かしさを連想させます。
猫にも歯医者さんがあります。猫にも歯石がたまるので、定期健診が必要です。

I went to the dentist after three years.
I had a problem with a tooth in an area that was causing me pain, but the dentist decided to start with a cleaning of my teeth.
A cloth was held over my eyes, so I can only guess what was done with what instruments (although I am a complete stranger to this, so I can't really know what I saw).
First, I noticed a thin tip like a needle touching my teeth while making a “squeaking” sound.
I found out that this is probably an ultrasonic scaler, a machine that removes tartar. There is also a tartar removal device called a “hand scaler,” which is available for general purchase.
I heard that dental hygienists use ultrasonic scalers and hand scalers in different places of teeth.
After that, I heard a voice saying, “I'm going to brush your teeth” and I felt the surface of my teeth being brushed with something rough, which tasted delicious, like an orange.
I found out that this is a “cleaning gel” which tastes like grapefruit, not orange.
After more treatment, the dentist said “I will take a mold of your teeth” and put something cold and soft in my mouth.
This is an impression material, “alginate”.
The 40-minute treatment was done at last. I was tired, but had an interesting experience.
The treatment cost was 5,170 yen.
For some reason visiting the dentist on a summer afternoon while cicadas are buzzling reminds me of my childhood in elementary school.
I used to visit the dentist during summer vacation in my childhood. The words “summer,” “dentist,” and “cicada” remind me of nostalgia.
