どんな日傘が最適？

猛暑のなか、日傘の使用は有効です。

日傘に対する私のイメージはだいぶ変わってきました。

日傘と言えば以前は、女性が白い布製の日傘をさして、暑い中をしとやかに歩く映像や光景をよく見かけました。

しかし現在では、晴雨兼用の傘が多くなってきました。

つぎのサイトによると、これにもつぎの２種類があります。
①　雨用傘で日傘としても使えるもの
②　日傘で雨用傘として使えるもの

日傘として重要なのは、「日光を遮る機能」があることです。

・黒色が最も日光を遮ってくれること。
・傘の骨が多いほど、アーチの面積は小さくなり、日光を遮る部分が多くなること。
・レースのような穴の開いた生地は、直射日光を通してしまうこと。

など色々、この記事から教わりました。

日傘といえばレース生地の印象が強かったのですが、雨用でも黒い生地の傘が好ましいようです。

　　　　　傘の下は安心できるようです。

ところで、「傘をさす」の英語は、

use an umbrella

open an umbrella

put up an umbrella  (put up は「上げる」「張る」などの熟語）

「傘をさして歩く」は、

上記の英語のほか、

walk under an umbrella

日傘は、parasol,　普通の傘は、umbrella と区別することもあります。

I learned these things from this article：

Black color should block the sunlight most；
The more ribs the umbrella has, the smaller the arch area is, and the more sun-blocking area it has；and
That fabrics with lace-like holes will let direct sunlight pass through.

I had an impression that parasols are made of lace fabric, but it appears that umbrellas made of black fabric even for rainy weather are preferable.
