17日午前、フィリピンのアキノ大統領は
弔意表明の記帳のため首都圏マカティ市内の駐フィリピン日本大使公邸を訪れた際
東日本大震災被災地への救援隊派遣など支援の用意があることを桂誠日本大使に伝え
支援受け入れを検討するよう申し入れた。
フィリピン政府は大震災発生直後の11日と14日にも
同様の申し入れを行っており、今回が３回目になる。

フィリピンが今月初めに中国に抗議したことへの対抗措置との見方も出ている。
フィリピンの外相も記者会見を開き
「これまで副大統領が中国に行くなどして交渉を続けてきたが
中国の法手続きは尊重されなければならない」と述べ
事実上、容認する考えを示した。

現政権は原発建設を視野に入れた研究費を２０１１年政府予算に組み込んだが
福島原発事故により後退を強いられることとなった。
