愛知県春日井市での実話を映画化した『フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学』が、ご当地先行公開して大ヒットを記録！全国巡視公開して上映館を増やし、ご当地映画がご当地で先行公開して、全国で大ヒット順次公開をするという異例スタイルで大躍進した。この映画原作「フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学」を基に舞台化した、新作「マハルコ組曲」(英題:Mahal ko Medley)を制作することを発表。
原作者・中島弘象氏による実体験を描いた話題の新書『フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学』は、映画 『能登の花ヨメ(2008)』『ママ、ごはんまだ?(2017)』『あしやのきゅうしょく(2022)』を 手掛けてきた白羽弥仁監督によって映画化。
2023 年11月に愛知県内のミッドランドスクエア シネマ、ミッドランドシネマ名古屋空港、中川コロナシネマワールドの3館で先行公開されるやわずか3週間で5,000人を超えるスマッシュヒットを記録。
この勢いは全国に波及し、2024年2月に東京ケイズシネマで封切後、瞬く間に全国30館まで拡大。2024年5月末時点で観客数は9,000人を突破、現在も全国各地で上映劇場が増え続けています。
そんな話題の映画が原案となり、今度は舞台化されることが決定。作品タイトルは「マハルコ組曲」。マハルコ(Mahal ko)とは、フィリピンの公用語タガ ログ語で“私の愛する人”を意味する。フィリピンから日本へ渡った 1 人の女性が、夫や 娘、愛する人々と時代ごとに逞しく生きていく様を歌やダンスを交えながら軽快に描いて いく。 2024 年 11 月に名古屋のささじまスタジオにて公演。
映画は原作に忠実に、原作者・中島弘象氏の大学院生活時代(2011~2015 年)の実話 を男性視点で描かれたラブストーリーでしたが、舞台では時代をやや遡り、1980 年後半 に日本にやってきた1人のフィリピン人女性の視点を軸に、パブ嬢から日本人男性の妻 となり、やがて子を出産し、母となっていく苦悩と喜びに満ちた激動の 30 年間を「母 と娘の物語」として描きます。
本作は、『フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学』原作者の中島弘象が自ら、日本での生活を生き 抜いたフィリピン人女性たちの実話を基に新たな原案を書き下ろし、劇団野生児童を主 宰する脚本家・演出家・俳優と多才な才能を持ち、更に長編映画初監督作品『渇愛の果 て、』が現在全国公開中の有田あんが作・演出を担当。歌とダンスを掛け合わせた軽快 な演出で、演劇ならではの新たな息吹を作品に吹き込みます。また、2022 年のカンヌ国際映画祭でカメラドール特別賞を受賞した映画『PLAN75』に 出演し、自身も同作にてマレーシア国際映画祭で最優秀助演女優賞を受賞、映画『フィリ ピンパブ嬢の社会学』にもメインキャストとして出演しているステファニー・アリアン が、舞台初主演として 30 年を駆け抜ける逞しいフィリピン人女性役を務めます。それ以 外のキャストについては 2024 年夏に全国オーディションが開催され、順次決定される 予定です。
開催日程は 2024 年 11 月 28 日(木)~12 月 1 日(日)。 愛知県のささしまスタジオ(名古屋市中川区)にて公演となります。

映画『フィリピンパブ嬢の社会学』は全国各地で公開され、日本人、フィリピン人、そ の他沢山の国にルーツを持つ人達に観て頂きました。そして、今回は舞台化で、とても 嬉しく思います。映画では私と妻の実体験が基となりましたが、私達夫婦がこうして日 本で国際結婚できたのも、沢山のフィリピン人の「先輩」方がいたからです。そんな彼 女たちが、どのように日本で結婚して、子供を育ててきたのか。そんな生き様を丁寧に 表現できる、舞台にしていきたいと思います。

原作を読ませていただきながら何度も胸が詰まりました。主人公の女性の苦悩や葛藤、 子供たちとの物語は、台湾で生まれ、日本人の父と結婚した母と私のことのようにも感 じました。妊娠・出産についての映画を制作したこのタイミングで、今作の作・演出の お話しをいただけたのは、運命のようにも感じます。丁寧に描かれている中島さんの原 作を大切にしながら、フィリピンの方々が持つ明るさ、そして親子の絆を、舞台ならで はの魅力でお客様にお届けできたらと思います。

私の初恋はいつも演劇でした。高校時代に演劇を始めて以来、日本に引っ越してからも 即興劇を通じて演技の腕を磨いてきました。このプロジェクトのことを聞いたとき、と ても興奮しました。これは私たちフィリピン人が文化や人生観を共有するもう一つの機 会だからです。日本でフィリピン人についての演劇は珍しいので、この機会を非常にあ りがたく思っています。名古屋や日本中の人々が来て見てくれたら、とても嬉しいです。 自分のキャラクターに命を吹き込むために全力を尽くします。このプロジェクトを通じ て、フィリピンコミュニティと日本コミュニティがもっとお互いを知り、仲良くなる機 会が増えることを願っています。
『マハルコ組曲』

KYOTUS (Kyoto, Japan / President: Daisuke Fusho) is pleased to announce the production of a new Play ” Mahal ko Medley ” based on the original work ” Be my guest, Be my baby “.
The popular new book ” Be my guest, Be my baby” which describes the real-life experiences of the author Kosho Nakashima, has been adapted to film by director Yahito Shiraha, who has also produced the films “Noto no Hana Yome (2008),” “Mama, Gohan wa Mada? (2017), and Ashiya no Kyushoku (2022).
The film was a smash hit, attracting more than 5,000 viewers in just three weeks. This momentum spread nationwide, and after its premiere at Tokyo K’s Cinema in February 2024, the number of theaters quickly expanded to 30 nationwide, surpassing 9,000 viewers as of the end of May 2024, and the number of theaters screening the film continues to increase nationwide.
The film is now going to be adapted to the play.
The title of the play is ” Mahal ko Medley. Mahal ko means “my beloved” in Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines. The play is performed at Sasashima Studio in Nagoya, Japan in November 2024.
While the movie was a love story from the male point of view, faithful to the original, based on the true story of the author Kosho Nakashima’s time as a graduate student (2011-2015), the play production goes back in time slightly, focusing on the perspective of a Filipino woman who came to Japan in the late 1980’s. She went from being a pub hostess to becoming the wife of a Japanese man, eventually giving birth to a child, becoming a mother, and eventually becoming the mother of a Filipino woman. The film depicts the turbulent 30 years of her life, filled with pain and joy, as she went from being a pub girl to the wife of a Japanese man, eventually giving birth to a child and becoming a mother, as a “story of a mother and daughter.
This film is written and directed by Kosho Nakashima, the author of ” Be my guest, Be my baby,” who himself wrote a new draft based on true stories of Filipina women who survived in Japan, and by An Arita, a multi-talented writer, director, and actor who runs the Wild Child Theater Company, and whose first feature film “The End of Craving,” is currently being released nationwide. An Arita is in charge of writing and directing. His light-hearted direction, which combines song and dance, will breathe new life into the work in a way that only theater can do.
Stefanie Arianne, who appeared in the film “PLAN75,” which won the Caméra d’Or Special Mention at the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival, and herself won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Malaysia International Film Festival for the same film, and also appeared as a main cast member in the film ” Be my guest, Be my baby,” will play her first starring role on play. She will play the role of a strong Filipina woman who is going through 30 years as the first star of the play. The rest of the cast will be selected through nationwide auditions to be held in the summer of 2024
