“When you find yourself in the midst of an ego attack, you can still change your mind. In fact, when you notice you have entered into an ego attack, notice it and lightly say something like, “There it is again. I guess I became afraid of love and made a wrong turn toward judgment and all that entails. At least I know I can change my mind, and I am WILLING to change my mind.”

Be patient with the process, but know you have indeed begun the process by opening your mind to a change. Extend forgiveness and move on. It may take awhile, but keep releasing to the Holy Spirit for correction.
