今年もマンハッタンのホリデーウィンドウが、人々の心を踊らせてくれている。
コロナ禍で街がロックダウンした昨年。
バーグドルフのウィンドウには強いメッセージが描かれていた。
例年のような艶やかなディスプレイではなく、輝かしい希望の光が、
街の復興を祈る人々の想いを代弁していた。
次々と変異株が発見されて、コロナはまだ落ち着きそうもないが、
今年のホリデーウィンドウは、ニューヨークの底力を見せ示している感がある。
2021年のテーマは、「The Present Moment」。
誰もが感じている「今を生きること」の重要性、そして煌びやかな世界。
分断と闘争という試練の時代を乗り越えて、
ニューヨークは生き残ったという勝利のメッセージが込められている。
一昨年までに比べると、街の人出はまだ３〜４割程度なのかもしれないが、
昨年よりは明らかに街が活気付いているのが実感できる。
バーグドルフのホリデーウィンドウを観て、１年の終わりを肌で感じる。
この小さな幸せが、永遠に続きますように。

The holiday windows in Manhattan are making people's hearts beat again this year.
Last year, the city was locked down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bergdorf's window had a strong message.
It was not a glossy display as in previous years but a glorious light of hope, representing the thoughts of people praying for the city's recovery.
With the discovery of new mutant strain after mutant strain, the COVID-19 are not likely to settle down just yet.
However, this year's holiday window seems to be showing New York's underlying strength.
The theme for 2021 is "The Present Moment," a glittering world where everyone feels the importance of living in the present moment.
It is a message of triumph that New York has survived through the trying times of division and struggle.
Compared to the year before the COVID-19, the crowds in the city may still be 30 to 40 percent, but
I can feel that the city is more vibrant than last year.
Seeing the holiday windows in Bergdorf, I can feel the end of the year on my feeling.
May this small happiness last forever.
