ニューヨーク５番街の一等地に君臨する、世界最高峰のデパート。
バーグドルフ・グッドマンのホリデーウィンドウは、
今年も世界中の人々を魅了している。
デパートのディスプレイスペースという限られた空間の中で、
どれほどの表現が出来るだろうと思うけれど、そこに限界はなく、
毎年毎年アップグレードされた新しい世界が演出されている。
近年映画でも公開されたように、バーグドルフ・グッドマンのウィンドウは、
およそ１年がかかりで制作される。
前年のディスプレイを撤収して数週間後には、次シーズンの準備が始まるのだ。
５つの大きなウィンドウを中心に、共通するテーマを設定して、
マネキンには各ブランドが生産している洋服を着用させ、PRも入れ込む。
2019年のテーマ「Bergdorf Good Times」を掲げてチームが結成され、
ゲーム、娯楽、パーティー、お祭り、ボードゲームが具現化された
今年の驚くべき進化は、すべてのウィンドウが「鳥瞰図」。
まるで上から下を見下ろすかのように、マネキンが配置されており、
たった52インチのスペースを最大限に活用したアートは、群を抜いている。
手作業で製作された数百万個のスパンコールや、マネキンの仕草と表現。
最終的なインスタレーションの時にまで断続的に変更が加えられ、
そのヴェールが開いた瞬間、ニューヨーカーから感嘆のため息が漏れた。
まるで美術館にいるような艶やかで荘厳な場面に、気分が高揚する。
ここのホリデーウィンドウを描くと、また1年の終わりがやってくる。
せめてここにいる時は、時の流れが止まってほしい。
年の瀬は、もうすぐそこにある。

The amazing evolution this year is that all windows are "bird's-eye views".
The mannequin is arranged as if looking down from the top,
The art that makes the most of the 52-inch space is outstanding.
Millions of sequins made by hand, and mannequin gestures and expressions.
Changes were made intermittently until the final installation.
The moment the veil opened, New Yorker sighed with exclamation.
You will feel uplifted in a gorgeous and majestic scene as if you were in a museum.
After I write the blog about this holiday window every year, the end of the year will come again.
I want the flow of time to stop when I am at least here.
