(The original blog in Japanese is here. 「小さな応援歌」)
I am not yet convinced that the perpetrators of group stalking overseas are Freemasonry, but it seems that the Catholic Church has always been opposed to its followers joining this organization.
In 1738, Pope Clement XII condemned Freemasonry through a papal document, and since then, it has been condemned by various popes.
The 1917 edition of the Canon Law states:
"Canon 2335: Membership in Freemasonry or similar societies. Anyone who joins a sect of Freemasonry or other similar societies that conspire against the Church or against lawful public authorities invites the accompanying sanction of excommunication, reserved only to the Holy See."
The current 1983 version of the Canon Law states, "Canon 1374: Anyone who joins an association that conspires against the Church must be punished with the proper penalties. Anyone who aids or leads such an association must be punished with the prohibitory sanctions."
Freemasonry is not mentioned by name.
In addition, some saints have had visions in which they saw people with aprons and tools reminiscent of stoneworkers destroying churches. (The origin of Freemasonry is the stonemasonry guild)
It is rumored that Pope John Paul I died prematurely (33 days after his election) because he was poisoned just as he was about to expel Freemasons from the Vatican's high-ranking clergy.
In his younger days, St.Father Maximilian Kolbe, who was active in Nagasaki before the war, witnessed St. Peter's Square in the Vatican filled with Freemasons calling for the annihilation of Catholicism.
I read that he once tried to go to a lodge to debate, but was stopped by his superiors.
The Catholic Church has condemned Freemasons both in public and private, and has banned its members from joining.
