新聞で上の記事を読んでいて、
確かに20年以上も前、
自分が学生だったころに比べると、
フリースクール関連の施設は
本当に増えたなと思います。
フリースクールとまでいかなくても、
就業支援だったり、
通信制学校も
ある程度、認知されてきていると思います。
そこで、今日はフリースクールについての語彙と、
「政府がフリースクールを推進すべきか」という点を
話していきたいと思います。
フリースクール関連の難しい単語
1. **Truancy (無断欠席)**
- *Example*: "The school implemented new programs to combat truancy among students."
- *訳*: 「学校は生徒の無断欠席に対処するために新しいプログラムを導入した。」
2. **Alternative Education (代替教育)**
- *Example*: "Many parents are turning to alternative education options, such as free schools, for their children."
- *訳*: 「多くの親がフリースクールのような代替教育の選択肢を子供たちに求めている。」
3. **Disengagement (学業からの離脱)**
- *Example*: "The study focuses on student disengagement in traditional schooling systems."
- *訳*: 「この研究は、伝統的な学校教育システムにおける学生の学業離脱に焦点を当てている。」
4. **Inclusivity (包括性)**
- *Example*: "Inclusivity in education ensures that all students, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities."
- *訳*: 「教育における包括性は、すべての生徒が背景に関わらず平等な機会を持つことを保証する。」
5. **Pedagogy (教育方法)**
- *Example*: "The free school adopts a unique pedagogy that emphasizes individual learning."

### 賛成の理由
1. **Diversity in Education**: (教育の多様性)
"Governments should promote free schools as they offer diverse educational approaches, catering to students with different learning styles and needs. This diversity is essential in an educational landscape that should embrace all types of learners."
2. **Innovation in Learning**: (新しい学習方法)

3. **Support for Non-Traditional Learners**:(従来とは違う学習者への支援)

### 反対の理由
1. **Quality and Standards Concern**: (教育における質や基準への懸念)
"There is a concern that free schools might not adhere to the same quality and standards as traditional schools, potentially leading to inconsistencies in education quality and student outcomes."
2. **Resource Allocation**:(資源分配問題)
"Promoting free schools may lead to a reallocation of resources away from the public education system, which could negatively impact the majority of students who attend traditional schools."
3. **Lack of Oversight**: (監視不足)
"Free schools often operate with more autonomy compared to traditional schools, which could result in a lack of oversight and accountability. This might lead to issues in ensuring a consistent and equitable educational experience for all students."
日本の教育水準については、
昔からいろいろ言われてはいますが、
ほぼ１００％の識字率を誇り、
世界で一番難しい言語を使用しているのに、
国際社会において何とかやっていけているのは、
公共教育の賜物だとは思います。
しかし、昭和の高度成長期のやり方が
通用しなくなっているのも、事実だと思います。
そのため、英語はその個人個人にあった
目標に向けて、いかに人々に使える英語を
学んでもらえるかが、今後の発達に大事です。
その目標を達成する英語力を測り、身に着ける
基本的な土台はやはり英検で育てることができます。
英検2級や準1級程度の力を得た後で、
TOEICの高得点やTOEFLでの大学留学が
見えてきます。
英検という身近な目標があることで、
英語能力を向上させることで、
勉強に自信がもて、ほかの科目にも
波及し、夢の仕事や大学に進みましょう！
