夏のレイクタホ：2日目 #1 / Lake Tahoe in summer: Day 2 #1

２日目はささっとベーグルで朝ご飯をすませ、ハイキングへ！
ゴンドラに乗って出発～～～

On 2nd day, we had a quick breakfast and headed out to Heavenly Gondola!

ヘブンリーというスキーリゾートは、夏の間はハイキングコースとして開放されているのです。
普段は雪に覆われた風景が、緑でいっぱいな不思議さ。

Heavenly is a ski resort open for hiking during summer time.
It's a totally different experience to take the gondola up when everything is not covered in snow.

後ろを見ると、段々湖が見えてくる。。。

Slowly, lake starts to peek behind the trees.

途中に展望台があるので降りてみる！

We got off at the observatory for a better look.

大変です。ものすごくきれいです！Σ(ﾟдﾟ;)
一体なんでこんなにきれいなのかレイクタホ。。。
その青さが心に染みるよ。o(；△；)o

This is like crazy beautiful. Σ(ﾟдﾟ;)
Why are you so pretty Lake Tahoe??
It's so blue! So blueee!!　o(；△；)o

さらにゴンドラに乗って、タマラックロッジまで。
ここのレストランでお昼ご飯を食べている人もいっぱい。

Hopped back on Gondola up to Tamarack Lodge.
There were lots of people having lunch and hanging out.

更に進むと、ハイキングコースにたどり着きます！
冬の間ボードで滑るコースを歩いていくのはおもしろい。

Further up, you find the hiking trails.
Its fun to walk on the trails you usually snowboard down.

緑がきれいだー。
時々リスが道を横切ったりする。

The mountain was pretty.
Chipmunks running around and all that.

なんかジュラシックパークみたい。

Jurassic Park ish.

２つのポイントまで歩きました。
１つ目は見晴らしのいいステージコーチ。

We walked to 2 different points.
First one was Stage Coach Look out with a view of the valley.

２つ目はイーストレイク。

2nd one was East Lake Lodge.

冬の間雪を作るのに使われている人工湖。
ここのロッジも空いてたらビールが飲めて最高なんだけどなー。だめか。

East Lake is used to make snow during the season.
It'd be perfect if this lodge was also open for a beer break!

結局１３キロ歩き続け、一回こけてもうヨロヨロですよ～～。
きれいで楽しかったけど、
「あぁ今ボードだったらあっと言うまにこの坂も降りれるのに！！」
とか考えてしまった。(^▽^;)

We ended up walking about 8 miles. I fell once.
It was really beautiful and fun, but I kept thinking
"I'd be down this hill in a second if I was on my board right now...." (^▽^;)

夏のレイクタホ：１日目 / Lake Tahoe in summer: Day 1

８月２８日は私達の結婚一周年の記念日だったので、小旅行に出かけておりました☆
北カリフォルニアのレイクタホまで、頑張って８時間運転して行って来たよ～！
いつもは飛行機でリノまで行くのですが、今年は旅の予定が多いのでせめてもの節約です。(^▽^;)
LAを夜９時に出て、着いたのは朝の５時。
お昼まで寝て、探検に出かける！
その前にミモサ。

8/28 was our first anniversary. So we had a little trip to Lake Tahoe.
We usually flight to Reno, but this time we decided to be cheap and drove 8 long hours!
Left LA at 9pm, and arrived in Tahoe as zombies at 5am.
Slept in till noon, then we were ready for adventures!
After a glass of mimosa.

Bear Beach Cafeで遅めの朝ご飯。
ここはタホへ来る度に滞在中１度は朝ご飯を食べに来ます。
そんなに混み合わないのに、それなりの美味しいのです。
ベジーベニー（野菜のエッグベネディクト）を半分こしてお腹いっぱい。

We had late breakfast at Bear Beach Cafe.
This is one of our go to spot in Tahoe.
It's never crowded because it's not that popular, but we manage to find pretty delicious selection.
We splitted Veggie Bennie this time!

タホへは今まで冬に２回、春に一回来ているのだけど、
夏は初めて。沢山外で遊んで、子供の夏休みみたいに過ごしたいと思って来た。。。（昼から飲むけれど。）
お腹いっぱいになってまず向かったのはビーチ！
湖沿いにいくつもの湖があるけれど、今回はBaldwin Beachへ。
相変わらずきれいだよ～～～。

I've been to Tahoe twice in winter, and once in Spring, but never in Summer.
I hoped this trip to be like the summer days I spent as a child.
Lots of running around outside...plus a bit of alcohol.
After breakfast we headed to the beach.
There are numerous beaches along the lake, but we decided to go to Baldwin Beach.
Look at this water. Amazing.

レイクタホはほんとにきれい。
透き通った青い水。その深度から冬の間も凍らない湖。

Lake Tahoe really is the prettiest lake I've ever seen.
Blue clear water. It's too deep to freeze during winter.

でも同じ理由で水がとっても冷たい～～～。ヽ(;´Д｀)ノ
おそるおそる入って降参。。。
テリーはしばらく頑張ってたけど、
私はビーチでぼんやり。。。

Water is COLD though!ヽ(;´Д｀)ノ
I tried, I did...but it didn't take too long for me to give up.
Terry was pretty persistent, but we spent most of the time laying on the beach.

数時間いたら、あっという間にディナーの時間に！
ビーチから直接、ハワイアンレストランのFreshiesへ。
ここは冬にしか来た事がなかったけれど、夏の間はテラス席がとっても気持ちいい。
素敵な眺めと美味しいタコス。白ワイン。悪く無いぜ。
肝心の料理の写真を撮るのを忘れちゃったー。

After a few hours it was dinner time!
We went to the Hawaiian joint, Freshies.
I've only been here during winter, but it was really nice during summer!
They had their terrace open, which has a beautiful view of the lake.
Awesome tacos, white wine and sunset. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Totally forgot to take pics of the food. Opps.

You also get to see this little barbie house on the terrace.
Mesmerizing I think.

明日のハイキングに備えて１０時就寝！普段の生活からは考えられないな。。。
ぐう。

Went to bed by 10 to get good rest for hiking tomorrow!
Crazy I know. Zzzz....

はじめてのシアトル　4日目 / Seattle! Day 4.

最終日は、ガラス彫刻家のデイル　チフリーの美術館へ行きました。
スベースニードルのすぐ近く。
スペースニードルは万博の時に建てられたタワーらしいです。
この日も、本当にいい天気。
「シアトルは天気悪い」っていうイメージからかけ離れているー！

On the last day we went to the Chihuly Museum by Space Needle!
Such a nice day out, again!
Seattle doesn't seem gloomy at all so far.

チフリーはワシントン州出身なんだと言う事を初めて知る。
私が今まで見た事がある彼の作品は、べガスのベラージオの天井のみだしな。。。

I found out Chihuly is from Washington.
The only work of him I've seen is the Bellagio ceiling...

色とりどりで力強い作品達。
個人的にはこのシンプルなシリーズが一番好きかな。

So many colorful pieces.
My personal favorite is these simple ones.

なんかこうゆうチョコレートあったような気がする。

I think they look like chocolates.

美術館は１時間足らずで回れてしまうこじんまりとしたもの。
小さいけれど濃い空間。
外に出て、でっかい噴水を発見！
子供達とテリーが水遊びをしている。。。
この噴水、けっこう暴れ者なのでヒヤヒヤした。(^▽^;)

Museum is pretty small, an hour is plenty.
Small but intense.
Found this crazy fountain on the way out!
Kids and Terry playing in the water.
This fountain was pretty unpredictable and out of control! (^▽^;)

飛行機までまだちょっと時間があったので、またまた生牡蠣を食べに行ってしまった！
ここはものすごくカジュアルなオイスターバーで、
ものすごく気軽に食べに来れる感じ。
近所に欲しい！(〃∇〃)

We still had a little time until the flight....so we did it again.
More oysters!
Taylor Shellfish Farm was amazing.
It's so casual! You can spontaneously stop by for a dozen oysters.
Can I have one in the neighborhood??? (〃∇〃)
