Hi, there.
I'm gonna talk about tsubomi-na,
a kind of vegetable I found this year.
A shot of tsubomi-na:
Tsubomi-na is a plant in the brassica family grown mainly in and
named in Fukuoka.
It was put into market in the area I live in this spring.
I buy any food materials new to me unless they're not too expensive.
So I put it into the shopping cart at a glance.
I had no idea how to eat this unknown plant.
But because it's pretty thick and didn't look easily cooked through,
I chopped it vertically into a few slices;
and put them in a spaghetti dish;
used them as garnish on a breakfast plate;
and added them to vegetable-rich scrambled egg
(though it's almost invisible here.)
Since it is handy and looks very vegetable,
I bought it everytime I see it on a supermarket shelf.
However, if I was asked if I find it so yummy,
my answer would be;
"I'd say it's okay."
It tastes like field mustard when cooked, and the stem is a lot like
broccoli, meaning that it's okay, but the taste itself was not the reason
why I liked it so much.
I don't know. It's just very handy. Great when I want to add some
green to my meal.
Plus, it's low-priced. Just \78 a pack of 3 pieces.
So, I'm looking forward to eat it next spring too!
