本日の季節の英語： ビーチサンダル （解説は末尾にあり）
さて、３日ほど前から突然夏になってしまった。
しかもエルニーニョで冷夏かと思っていたら、なんだかよくわからなくなっているらしく、
ブルーな心を盛り立てるため、筆者は夏の買い物をするのだった。
これがなければ筆者の夏は、たとえ冷夏であってもダメである。
パッケージもわりかし楽しい。
とはいえ、どうしようもないからしばらく眺めたのち捨てたが。
中身はビーサンだ：
ハワイアナスの方は上履き、
黒い方は外用だ。
ブラジル製のハワイアナス、数年前から毎夏買うのだが、
日本製のビーサンを毎夏買ったりした日には家がビーサンだらけに
なってしまうところ、ここのはスグ壊れるので、
毎年新しいデザインを楽しむことができるのだ。
なにしろ去年２足買ったら両方とも夏が終わるのを待たずして
壊れてしまったぐらいだ。外を歩いてないのにである。いやはや。
外を歩いているときにスグ壊れたらイヤなので、もっぱら上履きにする。
黒い方はスワミーズというサンダルで、去年オレンジ色のを買ったのだが、
鼻緒式のビーサンより安定感があって実用的なので、今年は色違いを。
マキシスカートやカーゴパンツに合わせて吉だ。

I started this blog as a part of the promotion strategy for the website,
however, soon I found out that this was giving me good opportunities to
train myself to write better both in English and Japanese, which is
very important for a translator.
So, I'll continue this blog, because:

It's suddenly summer, isn't it? Since a few days ago?
And they are not so sure about El Niño any longer.
Is this summer going to be bad or not?!
It's shaking my fragile little heart.
So, to energize myself, I did some shopping to better deal with the hell of summer.
Without these, I can't stand any summer, El Niñoish or not:
Packages are already fun to see.
But, I threw them away, because, what can I do with these?
Inside them are flip-flops!:
Havaianas ones are for in-door use, and the black ones are to hit the road.
I buy a pair or two Brazilian-made Havaianas flip-flops every summer since
several years ago.
Now, this is something you can't do with Japanese-made flip-flops, isn't is?
Because that way your apartment will be filled with flip-flops after several summers.
But, Havaianas sandals are weakly made.
So weak that they often don't make it to the end of the summer.
So, I can enjoy new designs every year.
The two pairs I bought last summer both didn't last one season.
And I wore them indoors only. Unbelievable.
I don't want my sandals to break on the road, so I mostly wear them in my apartment.
The black ones are called Swamisz.
I bought orange ones last year, and found that they were comfortable and practical.
Hence I bought the black ones this year.
I wear these with my maxi skirt and cargo pants.
So much for today.

ビーサンのことを英語で
flip-flop
という。
音は
フリップフロップ
である。
flip
は「ひっくり返す」
flop
は「ぽしゃる」
みたいな意味があるが、ここでは意味は関係なく、
使用時の音を名前にしただけだ。
「履いて歩いているときの音から来ている」
みたいなことが英語版Wikipediaにも書いてあったから
筆者の思い込みではない。
本格的に言うと
フリップロッ
となり、軽快である。
日本語で言えば
「パタペタ」
みたいな感じである。
覚えやすいから覚えてはどうだろう。
