本日は半年に1回老母が大学病院に行く日でして
行ってきたのですが、ここで老母が手術を受けたのは
かれこれ10年前。
執刀医はとうの昔にどこかへ転勤して行き、
次々変わる担当医はもはやゼンゼン赤の他人。
実際の投薬や検査は全て地元の病院でやっており、
こないだ心不全で死にかけた時も地元の病院で生き返り、
この大学病院に来るモチベーションが下がりに下がって
今となっては意味不明。

「大学病院は一回縁が切れるとなんかのとき繋げ直すのがちょっとタイヘン。」

そもそも食堂が病院にしたらまあまあマシなところへもってきて、
リーガロイヤルとサブウェイとスターバックスと鰻屋と丼もの屋が
軒を連ねて院内営業しているので、
診察が終わったら
「さ、何食べに行く？」
という楽しい会話が可能なんですから捨てたもんじゃありません。
この長所のおかげで、ほぼ意味不明でも
「まあ、通っとこか。」
と思う気持ちが補強されることは間違いなく。
さて、本日も2時間の待ち時間を乗り越えて診察と会計を終え、
老母に
「さ、どこに食べに行く？」
と問うたわけですが。
老母の返答がフルってまして！！

Long week, people?
Today was Mom's biannual hospital visiting day, and we
went to a university hospital where she had cardiac surgery
10 years ago.

within the hospital, providing incentive enough for me to pay biannual visits
despite of the apparent meaninglessness.
After meeting with whichever doctor, we can have a conversation like,
"Now which one should we go for lunch?"
And that's kind of fun.
Today, we finished with over-2-hour waiting punctuated by a brief talk
with a doctor and payment, and came to the time where we go,
"Now, which one do we wanna go for lunch?"
Mom's answer was NI-I-I-ICE!
I "Where do we want to go for lunch?"
Mom "AUTOBACKS."
Uh-huh, wait, where??
AUTOBACKS, did you say?!?!?!
AUTOBACKS?!
OMG, thanks, Mom! You know I LOVE this kinda thing..

"Won't that smell a little too rubbery for lunch?"
since the last time I was there I bought new tires for my car.
No reaction from her, but that's OK. She already did a good one.
So, we had quiche, sandwiches, coffee and macaroons, and
