筆者は最近まで 「コレなに？」「アレなに？」 と、老母を
園芸辞典代わりに使っていたのだ。
それがあんた、こないだから何を聞いても
「ラザニア」
と返答するようになってしまった。
昨日はベゴニアを、その前はアベリアを、
それぞれ
「ラザニア」
と呼んでいた。
ラザニア ―すでに植物の名前ですらないのだが。
しかし当人は相変わらず 「私は家庭の園芸辞典」 とか自負しているので
それはそれはめっさ自信満々に
筆者 「アレなに？」
老母 「あれは、ラザニア。」
と教えてくれる。
「ラザニアは花の名前ちゃうよ、食べ物やよ。」
というと、
そんな食べ物、聞いたこともナイわ。ラザニアはこの花やん！！！（あんたアホちゃう？）
みたいな感じでバカにされてしまった。
ひそかに超ウケるんですけど！？
しかし、今まで考えたこともなかったが、
ラザニア、そう言われれば植物の名前っぽいわな。

Like I mentioned before, I take Mom for a walk everyday.

Yesterday she called begonia
"lasagna,"
and the day before she called abelia the same.
Um, but that's not even a name of a plant.
Nevertheless, Mom, who still considers herself as a horticulture encyclopedia
of the family teaches me with absolute confidence like this:
Me "What's this flower called?"
Mom "It's called lasagna. (Of course.)"
I once told her,
"Lasagna isn't a flower name. It's a food, Mom."
And she said something like she had never even heard of a food called that,
and that lasagna was the name of the flower!! (with unvoiced "How stupid of you!").
That was very funny, although I hid how I felt about that.
But this has made me realize how lasagna indeed sounds like some kind of plant!
