A little while ago, I went to Sanda, Hyogo for moss pink watching.
It's not like it's an annual must, but it's my 85-year-old uncle's favorite.
This year he seemed to have forgotten about this regular event of
the family and found some article about this place in a newspaper
or something and said,
"The moss pink here seems to be awesome according to what they say!"
or something.
So he, his daughter and I went there like every year.
You gotta be careful when you choose what day you go there
because during "Golden Week," which is the flower's prime time,
the narrow country path, which is often too narrow for two cars to
pass each other, is totally jammed both ways.
This is definitely not tolerable for me who really really hates waiting in line,
and for my uncle who's really really impatient thanks to the gene.
Therefore we chose a Tuesday right after the "GW."
Despite my worry, the flowers were at their best.
Probably it started blooming later than usual.
We originally planned to have a picnic lunch at one of the benches here,
but it was so windy and unbelievablly cold despite the strong sun.
So we went to Plan B: My Car
It was so not spacious, and hot with windows closed and cold with them open.
After lunch, we went to some temples in Sanda.
We have been to this Kazan-in Temple so many times.
It's a nice place, but not as nice as someone wants to visit so many times.
Sanda is where my grandma, my uncle's mom was from, and
my uncle loves it so much. He has been there tens of thousands of times
since his childhood, and never feels enough.
My cousin and I have also been there tens of hundreds of times accompanying him,
and now we have this thing in us that makes us go there almost unconsciously.
We fear that we might go there even after he dies.
Anyway, so we have been to every temple and shrine in this area for several times
for each.
Pindola Bharadvaja and his uncool scarf choice:
Enjoyed fresh green of May:
We also went to another temple which we'd been some thousands times before
and paid our 10,000th visit to a shrine, but I no longer take photos in these two
unless I find a coelacanth walking around in the precincts or something.
But, you know, it's really a nice area, the countryside of Sanda, after all.
