さて、救急車は最後の曲がり角からサイレントモードにて現場に到着したらしく、
この上近所をお騒がせすることはなきかに思われたが、
植木屋氏と
Ｍ夫人に加え、偶然にも
犬の散歩中の旧町内会長O氏、
出かけようとして家から出てきたK夫人、そして
O氏の犬K号
が集まり、筆者到着時にはすっかり騒動に。
最後に騒ぎに参加した筆者が皆々様にたった30秒ぐらいお礼とお詫びを
言っているだけで、救急車の運転手のお姉さんが後ろから
「筆者さん、そろそろ乗りましょうか？！」
と、イライラ気味に言うので、（いや、筆者さんとは呼ばれていないが）乗り込むと、
母はストレッチャーではなく座席に座っており、なんかヨユーの感じで
救急隊員と会話していた。
背中から
「一体どないしたん？！」
と声をかけると、
「あ、あんた、来てたん？」
といって振り向いたその顔が、鼻から下が血まみれで、
上歯のない口はあくまで空洞ながらもやはり血みどろ、
それでバアサンにっこり微笑んだからさあ大変。
悪いが、超コワイのだった。
この際、痛そうな顔とかしている方がコワくなかったと思うのだが、
母に詳しい筆者が行った精度９９％の分析によると、
これだけの騒ぎの中心人物になれた高揚感が
彼女に微笑をもたらしたものと思われる。

(continuing from the previous post)
Now, the ambulance somehow shut off before it turned the last corner to Mom's house,
meaning the event was not supposed to cause any further turmoil in the neighborhood.
But adding to the gardener and Mrs. M,
the ex-community council chairman Mr. O, who was waliking his dog
Mrs. K who came out of her house to go shopping, and K, Mr. O's dog
joined in the scene, and by the time I got there, it was one established clamor all right.
When I was thanking as well as apologizing to them for all the trouble
for just a little less than 30 seconds after I got there, the ambulance driver girl said,
"Ok, Ms Author, it's about time you get in the ambulance now!"
with a clear sign of irritation. (although no one really called me Ms Author)
So I got on the vehicle, and found Mom in a seat, not on the stretcher.
She was answering the questions the paramedics was asking her
somehow in a very relaxed manner.
"What on earth has happened to you?!"
I talked to her from behind, to which she answered,
"Oh, you're here."
While doing so she turned around and....and OMG, what I saw....!!
Her face was covered with blood nose down, and her toothless mouth
was also bloody and very empty.
And then she smiled....!
I know it's really not the best way to describe one's own mother in a situation like this,
but her smile was kinda scary.
She wouldn't have been looking so scary if she was frowning or something, I think.
According to a 99%-accurate analysis conducted by moi who's a Mom expert,
that she knew that she was the focus of public attention at the time gave her a lift
causing her to smile.
