本日の英語： 「血みどろの」

事故は、その日ちょうど母のところへ来ていた植木屋さんから、
「お母さんがコケて腕折りはった。救急車呼んだからすぐ来て。」
と電話があったことから筆者の知るところとなった。
後日この植木屋氏のところへお礼に言って聞いた現場の様子：
植木屋氏が1日の仕事を終えて帰る準備をしていたときに、
老婆の
「たすけて～～～」
という声がしたため、ナニゴトかと声の方向へ向かったところ、
母が玄関先で倒れてもがいていた。
助け起こしたバアサンの顔面血みどろの様子に、
彼は単身大変動揺したという。
そこへお気の毒にも買い物帰りに通りがかった、二軒隣に住むM夫人に
助けを求め、自分はすかさず119。
そののち筆者に連絡してくれたということなのだった。

I was informed of this accident by the phone call from the gardener
who was doing some work in Mom's garden that day saying,
"Your mother tripped and I think she broke her arm. I called the ambulance.
You got to come right now."
Later when I visited him to thank, he told me that when he was
getting ready to go for the day, he heard an old woman's voice calling,
"He-e-e-elp!"
He went to the direction and found my mom on the ground just outside
the entrance helplessly trying to get up.
He helped her to sit up, and her blood-covered face truly shook him up.
Soon he caught Mrs. M who lives two doors from Mom's and
who unfortunately came back from shopping and asked her for help
while he called 119.
